The Fire in Fred's Belly

The following story comes from Miss Beth's Victory Dance. Please click on the name of her blog and visit her site - there is outstanding work being produced over there! - Cyber Pastor

The Fire in Fred's Belly

For a long time, a whole lot of us have liked the cut of Fred Thompson as a presidential candidate. So much so we BEGGED the man to jump into the race. Finally, FINALLY, he threw his hat in the ring and now, many of us (I'm admittedly an attention challenged, Type A personality who can't sit still for very long) question when we're going to "see" the fire of Fred "catch on".

While discussing Fred with my mentor during a break in study group one night, she asked me flat out why I liked Fred. At the time, I really couldn't answer with more than a gut feeling. She was correct in calling me out. That is one of the reason's I consider her my main mentor--she makes me stop and think. Then, she makes me go do my research and study. She may not like this comparison too much, but it's not meant to be offensive--in that regard, she is very similar to both my parents who insisted--prior to discussing ANYTHING--I and my siblings educate ourselves on any and all topics. Both my parents came from modest means to be significant forces in their respective fields, ultimately competing with each other for degrees (daddy won, but not by much); to them, education was the ONLY ticket to true freedom, independence and prosperity for without an education you could go nowhere. So, my mentor falls into the same category with my parents in this regard.

So, with my mentor's challenge spurring me on, I began to look into WHY I thought Fred would be the best candidate. I found a man surprisingly honest. A man who thought out his plans and outlined them in a coherent fashion. A man who offers no apologies for his past, yet who is unflinchingly honest about it. He says what he means. He doesn't beat around the bramble bush trying to be all things to all people.

For example, on the illegal immigration issue (since I live in a border state, this is something important to me), Fred has laid out a comprehensive, common sense plan for implementation.

From his site:

Securing the Border and Enforcing the Law

A fundamental responsibility of the federal government is to secure the nation's borders and enforce the law. The following policies and initiatives will put the nation on a path to success:

  1. No Amnesty. Do not provide legal status to illegal aliens. Amnesty undermines U.S. law and policy, rewards bad behavior, and is unfair to the millions of immigrants who follow the law and are awaiting legal entry into the United States. In some cases, those law-abiding and aspiring immigrants have been waiting for several years.

Attrition through Enforcement . Reduce the number of illegal aliens through increased enforcement against unauthorized alien workers and their employers. Without illegal employment opportunities available, fewer illegal aliens will attempt to enter the country, and many of those illegally in the country now likely will return home. Self-deportation can also be maximized by stepping up the enforcement levels of other existing immigration laws. This course of action offers a reasonable alternative to the false choices currently proposed to deal with the 12 million or more aliens already in the U.S. illegally: either arrest and deport them all, or give them all amnesty. Attrition through enforcement is a more reasonable and achievable solution, but this approach requires additional resources for enforcement and border security:Read more here.

But wait! There's more!

Fred also has comprehensive ideas laid out for:

National Security; the Federal Budget and Spending/Budgetary Reform; Tax Reform; Healthcare; Government Effectiveness; Building Strong Families; Education; Appointing Judges Faithful to Our Constitution; Energy Security and the Second Amendment. He also offers a downloadable, side-by-side comparison of where the GOP candidates stand on Family Values Issues; 2nd Amendment Rights and Crimes; Securing America's Borders and Fiscal Responsibility.

The entry page for all of these issues can be found here.

Overall, while there are a few things I disagree with, I like Fred as a candidate. I like how he is clear and concise on the issues. I like how he appears to think carefully before opening his mouth. I think he has a personally pleasing appearance, which, through his acting skills and his past political background, he is able to use to advantage when negotiating across a table, either with a recalcitrant SoH or another country's leader. He doesn't come off as a wimp and image is important when dealing with extremist loons.

I don't like how he seems to be moseying along, strolling through this campaign. But then, as I mentioned above, I'm an attention challenged, can't sit still for a second, Type A personality. If I'm not juggling a kazillion things at once, I feel as if I'm missing out on something.

I also keep forgetting Fred is, at heart, a born Southerner and Southerner's do things their own way and in their own time.

That being said, because the MSM doesn't understand this basic truth about Southerner's, they have labeled Fred as lazy. Then, as per their usual sloppy reporting, they set up imaginary strawmen to knock down and only provide half quotes, purposely designed to make Fred look as bad as possible.

Such is the case here. From The Campaign Spot we see the headline: "Fred Thompson, Knifed by Half-Quotes Again". From this article we learn the following:

This time their grumbling is directed at this account in USA Today:

BURLINGTON, Iowa — Fred Thompson said Saturday he does not much like the modern form of presidential campaigning and that he "will not be devastated" if he doesn't win the election.

"I'm not particularly interested in running for president," Thompson said, but rather he feels called to serve his country.

Now, that sounds pretty damning, particularly with Iowa and New Hampshire looming. However, the rest of the quote is here:

"I am not consumed by personal ambition," Thompson responded. "I'm offering myself up."

Given the volatile state of the world, the actor and former Tennessee senator said he was not "sure it is a good thing if a president has too much fire in his belly."

"I'm only consumed by a few things and politics is not one of them," he said.

Now, there's an old saying that absolute power corrupts absolutely. There's also an old saying about being wary of those who desperately want to hold positions of power (HRC come to mind anyone?). Read the rest of the article here; it's an eye opener of egos in the MSM.

From what I'm seeing from Fred, he has stated he will run his campaign his way. He has also shown he is not absolutely desperate to hold the position of POTUS, but having been chosen by the people, implored by the people to run, he will do the very best job he can, if he is elected. He has sat down, thought out the most important issues facing this country, and established his platform in a well thought out manner. He has plodded along at his own pace, and answered questions posed to him. He has refused to play the schoolyard games engaged in during the so-called debates. He doesn't hesitate to call people on the carpet when he thinks they're being asinine and when someone steps over the line with a question too personal, he lets them know it. He doesn't flip flop around. He doesn't screech--but he does calmly state where he thinks this country needs improvement. Then he offers the means for that improvement.

Remember the story of the Tortoise and the Hare? Well, Fred just may be that tortoise--slow and steady and eventually, win the race.

That is if he can get past the idiotic MSM determined to derail him.

But then, what else would one expect from ego driven, pampered, whiny, treasonous liberals who want nothing more than to see the demise of this country? What else could you possibly expect from a "profession" that can't follow it's own standards of conduct, rules and ethics (these people need a dictionary to look up the meaning of the word ethics), a "profession" increasingly showing it can't--or won't--report the full story because it can't be bothered to do the legwork necessary. A "profession" riddled with the likes of TNR (Scott Thomas Beauchamp), TIME Magazine reporters who criminalize our Marines on the unsubstantiated word of an al-Quaida operative (Haditha), reporters who report "roadside graves full of decapitated bodies" (bodies and graves that never existed) and on and on.

Do we really expect honest, unbiased reporting? Oh--wait--silly me! That would require integrity--something we KNOW the MSM lacks. And they certainly do NOT want to give any kind of fair coverage to a man with integrity--he might force them to do the jobs they don't want to do--or prosecute them for their treason and sedition (NYT anyone?).

The MSM has a lot to lose if Fred wins. Perhaps THAT should be the real story--the MSM's motive in falsely reporting and cherry picking on ANY of the conservative campaigns.

Catch the Wave!

Dylan is in Remission!!!!!!

Good news for the new year....

Dylan is in remission! Praise God Almighty!

I cried when I got the news this afternoon. I am so thankful for God's faithfulness and for giving me the strength to make it through this.

There is still residual tissue (dead cancer cells) that are in his diaphram area below his right lung and above his liver. The doctors are trying to decide where to go from here. Dr. Ladd (Dylan's surgeon) is looking over the pathology report to see what he thinks. The doctors believe that it may be more invasive and dangerous to go in there surgical to biopsy the residual residue because of the location. I don't know where we go from here but I do know that God will continue to be with us through every step.

Dylan has his spinal tap on Wednesday morning and then we will be released. Dr. Kumar will be calling me sometime in the next week or so to let me know what all the doctors have decided would be the best way to go from here. Basically, many kids have survived still carrying that residual "rock" of leftover tumor in their bodies. They may end up just leaving it alone.

Dyl is playing in the playroom right now. He feels well. I am getting ready to sign off so I can play with him.

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!

Love,

Israel - America's Greatest Ally - Dean Part 8

Dear reader,

This next installment contains a mixture of a video and audio link. A change to keep you focused on the ever growing problem in the Middle East while our State Department and the world turns a blind eye.

When the Bush administration comes to it’s senses will it be too late for Israel? What about the next administration?

That our Department of State is broken should be obvious to the most casual observer. It has been for a very long time now. Go back and read the previous articles in this series to get “the picture”.

The cognitive dissonance presently exhibited by Condoleeza Rice, president Bush, and many world leaders regarding the ME will have far reaching and long term effects on Israel. None of which can be construed as good. Quite the opposite in fact.

The notion that the Falestinians, aka; “Palestinians” are a people is a lie that has lived on through the ages perpetuated by world leaders, the MSM, and our own government.

In short the Falestinians are nothing more or less than Arab refugee’s.

In the previous articles of this series you learned that there are 22 Arab states with a total land mass hundreds of times the size of tiny Israel. Common sense would tell us that it should not be a problem for the Arabs to give the Falestinians their own land without impacting their holdings and end the Arab refugee status. Certainly money should not be an obstacle when you consider all the oil rich Arabs and a naïve misguided world ready and willing to donate billions to Palestinian terrorists, aka ;”Palestinian Authority”, in a wasted attempt to bring peace to that troubled region.

How rich do we need to make these terrorists anyway?

Do you think any of this money will reach the Arab refugee’s? If so, how much?

How much has actually gone into helping them in the past?

More than likely it will line some fat corrupt Arabs pockets or a whole group of them and fund more terrorism, much the same way it made Arafat rich and kept the Falestinian Authority in power while arming and feeding Hamas amongst other terrorist groups. Do you know the concept of al Taqqiya? Guess who is laughing all the way to the bank.

Easy right? Not so fast dear reader, as outlined in previous articles this isn’t about the so called “Palestinians”, nor is it even about the land that is and has been so hotly contested over many decades.

The land for peace negotiations most recently and in previous decades, along with the “throwing” of billions of dollars at this problem is not about peace in the ME, it is about wiping out all Jews…eradicating them from the face of God’s green earth as dictated by Hamas, Fatah and the PA along with the teachings found in the Qu’ran(Koran) adhered to by Muslims.

But it sure makes the politicians feel good don’t it?

So that you know why I use the name “Palestinian” with great reservation, this very short summary may clue you in.

The name “Palestine” was coined by the Romans to denigrate and insult the Jewish people. It was derived from the name Philistine who as you will recall in the Bible were bitter enemies of the Jews. Each and every time it is used the name perpetuates that insult. Hence I refuse to use the name even though you see it displayed prominently in these articles, it isn’t my choice of words but I allow it to expedite the information from other sources without attempting to educate them. That is way beyond the scope of this series. What is within reach is educating you the reader to falsehoods that exist with regard to the name “Palestinians”.

In previous articles many links were supplied to assist your education in this regard. Relying on the MSM is a dead end and if you want to ‘Google” it do so at your own peril. There are many sources to get the truth. The MSM and Google aren’t it.

Those that rely on the two afore mentioned “sources” are also likely to claim that one become an expert in forensic science by watching CSI on television or that most Army Green Beret soldiers are “Rambo’s” incarnate after watching one too many Rambo movies. Perhaps it is the movie “Apocalypse Now” that floats your boat and makes you an expert on Vietnam.

Whatever…get over it…

They also likely believe in the Politically Correct notion that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end no matter what common sense dictates or the evidence on your fingers after the attempt.

If you are one of “those”, please spare me your arguments or petty rants. I have no time for fools or obscure irrelevant musings. Of course some mothers son or daughter will likely call foul and take me to task. If that is your calling and you choose to exhibit cognitive dissonance while showing other readers that you lack comprehension then you will also note that I will ignore you, awaiting the day pigs fly before I argue with you. Please do not waste my time with your boring rhetoric. It’s been said before on far too many occasions and I am well past having patience for that.

An open mind is the first step to understanding the truth. And perhaps an additional suggestion would be, do not let your college education or leftist beliefs stand in the way of common sense and reason. It will only lead you to an end game with no winners…..only losers.

Just remember every time you use the name “Palestinian” you are insulting Israel and the Jews, and those of us that know the truth. It is a farce that needs to end and end now.

Dean

Wipe Out the People of Zion

This must be the age at which Falestinian cognitive development peaks, because the leaders don’t sound any more mature than this kid .

PA TV Brings Back Program Showcasing Martyrs' "70 Virgins"

by Hana Levi Julian

(IsraelNN.com) A Palestinian Authority TV mainstay is back on the screen, with the Virgins of Paradise reminding would-be suicide bomber terrorist shahids (martyrs) of the reward that awaits them when they die fighting the Jews.

Palestinian Media Watch alerted the public this week to the return of the program, which has been broadcast regularly over the past month after a hiatus of more than a year. The constant reruns may signal the need to increase motivation among PA Arab men to join the terrorist ranks and donate their lives to fighting Israelis.

The music video depicts a lovely Arab woman being shot in the chest, as she runs forward to greet a PA terrorist being released by IDF soldiers on the other side of a barbed wire fence.

The young woman is next seen dressed in a white robe dancing with other similar maidens in a shining pool of water, while her grief-stricken lover hunches over her tomb in the night, grim determination in his eyes.

The terrorist is then seen getting up and being shot in the back by Israeli soldiers as he is running from the gravesite. The scene flashes to the dancing maidens, including his love welcoming him, presumably to Paradise in reward for his Shahada (Death for Allah).

This scenario is based on Islamic traditions described in the Muslim holy book, the Koran (Suras 42, 44, 52, 56 and others) which states that a man who dies as a martyr is rewarded with eternal Paradise and 70 virgins upon his arrival.

PMW Impact Growing, PA Officials Watching Closely

Palestinian Authority officials and other Arab leaders are beginning to exhibit concern about the regular bulletins from the PMW that expose the reality of PA messages to the Arab world.

According to the organization, PA TV and Arab internet news agencies are starting to respond quickly to PMW bulletins, including Fatah TV, Hamas TV and an Arabic-language internet site in London.

PMW expressed satisfaction that the monitored are now feeling the need to monitor.

Cyber Pastor's Daily Deciblez!!!

Cyber Pastor's Daily Deciblez!!!

It's been several days since I've posted much on my blog, and it feels good to get back to "work" after all the festivities that make up the Boston Family Christmas celebrations!

I have started a new feature that will be daily, at least for a while and will be a regular all the way up to Election 2008.

The Presidential Prayer Team, for who I serve as the Ambassador Chaplain, has an initiative called Pray to Vote 2008.

It is my humble opinion, that there is NOTHING better that we can spend our time doing than being in prayer for our upcoming elections. Sure, we need to inform ourselves, post blogs, make donations, write letters to the editor, and on and on, but serious prayer for our nation - that America will follow the will of God when we go to the polls - is something that I will be promoting here and elsewhere in the days and weeks to come.

The picture above is Cyber Pastor along with PPT President/CEO John Lind and PPT Ambassador Roger Metzger (r to l) from this past September when John visited our church and spoke at a community event as well.

Finally, I am happy to say that I have the next installment in the ongoing series: Israel - America's Greatest Ally ready to post tomorrow. Dean has more great information to share, and I'm excited to be able to post it here at Do The Right Thing!

Presidential Message: Christmas 2007

"But the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High...his kingdom will never end.'"
--
Luke 1:30-33

During the Christmas season, our thoughts turn to the source of joy and hope born in a humble manger on a holy night more than 2,000 years ago. Each year, Christians everywhere celebrate this single life that changed the world and continues to change hearts today. The simple and inspiring story of the birth of Jesus fills our souls with gratitude for the many blessings in our lives and promises that God's purpose is justice and His plan is peace.

At this special time of year, we give thanks for Christ's message of love and mercy, and we are reminded of our responsibility to serve. America is blessed to have fine citizens who reach out with a compassionate hand to help brothers and sisters in need. We also remember our brave men and women in uniform who have volunteered to defend us in distant lands. Many of those who have answered the call of duty will spend Christmas far from home and separated from family. We honor their sacrifice, ask God to watch over them and their families, and pray for their safe return.

Christmas is a time to rejoice and remember the birth of Jesus Christ. Laura and I pray your Christmas will be blessed with family and fellowship, and we wish you a day of glad tidings. Merry Christmas.

Welcome to Pray the Vote , an initiative of The Presidential Prayer Team. We want to engage you in the upcoming elections—through prayer!

Whether your involvement in the political process has been limited to a casual glance at the debates or you are deeply involved, you may never have thought to engage the electoral process through prayer!

Prayer is the most significant way you can impact our country. When you bring the political process before God, things happen—by God’s initiative, and in your mind and heart. It’s a powerful and empowering process. We urge you to try it and see!

Palestinians Get $7.4 Billion in Aid Pledges in Paris

By Gregory Viscusi

Dec. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Governments and international groups pledged $7.4 billion over the next three years to help Palestinians achieve statehood, a sum that beat the target set for a Paris aid conference.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, who said ``the winners are the Palestinian people,'' announced the total today in a press conference. The Palestinian Authority said it needed $5.6 billion in the next three years for its development plan.

Of the amount pledged, $3.4 billion is for 2008, with $1.1 billion earmarked for the Palestinian budget and the rest for projects and humanitarian help.

``We see it as an important act of faith of the international community,'' said Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad at the closing press conference. ``This plan is about statehood, and these commitments are a step forward toward that vision. I take it as an endorsement.''

The gathering of 90 states and organizations including the World Bank, Islamic Development Bank and International Monetary Fund followed last month's U.S.-organized peace summit in Annapolis, Maryland. That meeting formally restarted Israeli- Palestinian peace talks after seven years.

Palestinian State

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said the goal of the financial help is to create a Palestinian state by the end of 2008. He called on Israel to ease its occupation of Palestinian territories and eventually to relinquish all land it conquered in 1967.

``We have a real negotiating process and now we have a Palestinian plan and the money to pay for it,'' said former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, an envoy representing the United Nations, Russia, the U.S. and European Union. ``None of this was in place six months ago. Now we have to show we are capable of making a difference on the ground.''

Among individual pledges, France offered $300 million over the next three years. The European Union will contribute $650 million in 2008, said Benita Ferrero-Waldner, the EU foreign affairs commissioner. That amount will include about $475 million in direct budgetary support for the Palestinians. The rest is for UN humanitarian agencies.

U.S. Support

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the U.S. would give $555 million, up from $75 million this year. Of that, $150 million would support the Palestinian budget, she said. The aid hasn't been approved yet by the U.S. Congress.

Sweden will give $106 million, according to Foreign Minister Carl Bildt. He said his goal is to spend $300 million through 2010, though he can't formally pledge money that hasn't been budgeted by parliament. Russia pledged $10 million.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere, a co-president of the meeting, said in an interview that the $1.1 billion in aid for the Palestinian Authority's budget next year ``is enough for Fayyad to get his institutions up and running in January.''

Fayyad is likely to talk to donors to shift some money earmarked for projects to the budget, the Norwegian minister said. He said Arab countries in particular preferred to spend on aid projects rather than transfer money to the Authority.

Saudi Arabia, the largest oil producer in the Middle East, pledged $750 million, according to unidentified Palestinians cited by Agence France-Presse. The news agency said conference organizers put the figure at $500 million over three years.

Graft Assurances

Stoere said assurances that the money won't be wasted through corruption nor feed terrorist activities ``are as good as they get.'' Fayyad is a former economist who first made his mark as the Palestinian Authority's finance minister, where he put order into the Authority's accounts to assuage foreign donors.

``With Fayyad in charge and the IMF and others doing their job, I feel confident going to the Norwegian parliament, a nation of 4.5 million people, and asking for $140 million'' over three years, he said.

Sarkozy and Dominique Strauss-Kahn, managing director of the IMF, were among speakers urging the Israelis to remove roadblocks and other barriers to trade in the West Bank.

``By themselves, these aid offers aren't sufficient,'' Fayyad said in the closing press conference. ``What would really help is the lifting of restrictions.''

Improving Access

Rice said as she left a meeting with Sarkozy that she and Blair had discussed ways to ease restrictions on the Palestinians. ``As projects go forward, it will be necessary to improve movements and access,'' she told reporters.

``It is in Israel's best interest, provided its own security is not threatened, to foster a normal existence in the West Bank,'' Sarkozy said. ``This will enable Palestinians to work, to stop ruminating on their own humiliation.''

Amre Moussa, secretary-general of the Arab League, said Israel maintains 653 checkpoints and roadblocks in the West Bank.

Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni attended the conference and said a peaceful Palestinian state is in Israel's interests too. ``We have no desire to control Palestinian lives,'' Livni said. ``But every effort to improve quality of life means also making every effort to save lives,'' she said, noting that weapons-smuggling and rocket fire into Israel continue.

Relations have soured since last month's meeting in Annapolis as Israel announced plans to build 300 Jewish homes in east Jerusalem, ignoring U.S. requests to stop building settlements on land occupied in 1967, and as Palestinian militants continue to fire homemade Qassam rockets into Israel from Gaza.

While the Palestinian Authority controls only the West Bank, having been pushed out of Gaza by the Islamist Hamas group in June, the Palestinian Authority says it continues to pay the salaries of 77,000 civil servants in Gaza.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas reiterated his call for fresh elections in Gaza as a way to reunite it with Fatah-controlled West Bank.

How much of this do you think will actually go to help the Arab refugees, aka: Palestinians?

Any bets?

All this while the Fallestinians are raining rockets down on Israel injuring and killing Israeli citizens including the wounding of a small child in Kibbutz Zikim.

Jewish Toddler Wounded By Arab Terror

(IsraelNN.com) Arab terrorists launched a Kassam rocket on civilians in Kibbutz Zikim Sunday, which exploded near a home in the western Negev community, close to the major city of Ashkelon. The explosive injured two-year-old Rom Katzir. His pregnant mother, Sivan, and six others were treated for shock. Four houses were also damaged.

Arabs have fired rockets every day for the past several days, one of which hit a factory in the western Negev on Friday.

The world is lining up against Israel and will suffer the wrath of God for it’s stupidity. When will they ever learn ?!

There is currently a protest in progress against the division of Jerusalem.

Go here for the story.

Your vote and that of your friends is needed to stop this insanity.

We are a third of the way there. 31,189 people have already cast their votes, but we must get at least 100,000 responses or President Bush will think that Christians support dividing Jerusalem and a Palestine State in 2008.

In an article dated October 14, 2007, the following statement was made by former chief rabbi Avraham Shapira: “The Land of Israel belongs to the Nation of Israel and was granted to us an inheritance by the Creator of the World. Neither the prime minister nor anybody else has the right to give away areas, or even a grain of sand, of the Holy Land of Israel.”

It’s absolutely urgent that you vote today. President Bush will be traveling to Jerusalem on January 9th. Please get 10 of your friends to join you as we voice our opinion to the President. Your votes will also be released to the Israel media to let them know that as Christians we do not support President’s Bush’s plan.

Just a quick note today to ask if you have shown how thankful you are to our troops and veterans for what they are doing, and have done for our county? The picture above shows two of my favorite veterans alive today, and what a backdrop for their picture!!! While you are at it take a look at the three Purple Hearts.

Take a minute, or two from your busy schedule to send an email, ecard, a good old fashioned snail mail CHRISTmas Card, or even a phone call to your favorite VETERAN and tell them how much you appreciate them!

Cyber Pastor's Daily Deciblez!!!

Cyber Pastor's Daily Deciblez!!!

Before the recap of my posts today, I want to mention a little 3-year-old boy named Dylan. I first posted about Dylan here in a story about Tony Dungy. It tells about Dylan and his battle with Burkitt's Lymphoma.

After several weeks of chemo (remember this is a 3-yr-old), today was a big day with a test to let them know where they stand in the treatment. I going to let Dylan's mom tell you the rest of the story, and after you read it - please say a prayer for this little boy and his family! Cyber Pastor

Not the news I wanted to hear but we are still staying positive......

Dylan had his scan today. I was so proud of him lying still for the scan and not having to be sedated. He was a good boy all day long. His dad, was there with us all day. Dylan was ecstatic to have his father there and I was so happy that he and his dad played so well together. After we left the hospital today, Dylan's dad treated us to lunch at The Olive Garden which was really nice.

So here is what we found out....

Basically, Dr. Kumar explained that there is still something showing on the scan but it may just be scar tissue. It could also still be the Burkitt's Lymphoma. I am hopeful that is is just scar tissue. They will have to do a surgical biopsy to find out what they are dealing with so they will know how to treat it. The tumor has shrank at least 80% so that is a good thing. They sent us home this evening because they didn't want to administer chemo until they knew what they were dealing with. Dr. Kumar went on to explain that this occurrence is not uncommon and we should not be saddened by this news. There is still lots of hope that Dylan will have a full recovery...we just don't have a timetable yet. So, now we are waiting for Dr. Kumar to speak with the surgeons to see when they have time to fit Dylan into their schedule. He may have surgery as soon as Wednesday of this week or they may have to wait until after Christmas to do it. On one hand, I hope they get us in this week so we can find out quickly what is still inside Dylan's abdomen so we can get rid of it. The other part of me hopes that we can postpone the surgery until after the holidays so Dylan can truly enjoy Christmas at home with his sister and I.

Now we need to pray that whatever is left in Dylan's abdomen can either be completely removed surgically or that if it is still Burkitt's that the next protocol of chemo will be stronger and get rid of the cancer once and for all.

Whatever happens, I know that God will get us through it. God is good, all the time! I am so thankful that Dylan has been feeling so well the last couple of weeks and had so much energy. I just continue to pray that God will keep us strong and faithful through this ordeal.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. We wouldn't be able to make it through this without your loving support, kindness, and encouragement.

Love,

Dylan's Mom & Dylan

Vets for Freedom Making International Headlines

I am a proud memeber of Vets for Freedom. Pete Hegseth sent the following email out earlier today. Check out the action item below and if you would like to join this fine organization please follow the links. Cyber Pastor

Vets for Freedom members,

Last week, in London's grand Westminster Hall, I had the distinct privilege and honor to represent Vets for Freedom during a debate hosted by
Intelligence Squared, the most prominent debating forum in Europe. Along with my esteemed debating partner William Shawcross, we were able to achieve a dramatic and unexpected victory with the sold-out audience of over 2,200 by overwhelmingly swaying them to defend the motion, "The surge is working, let's win before we leave."

Of the 455 undecided voters who arrived in the hall, over half (234) later voted to support victory rather than defeat. By contrast, only 131 voted in favor of the motions "leave Iraq now" or "negotiated settlement."

Overwhelmingly, previously undecided voters left the hall convinced that we must win in Iraq. I was expecting a hostile audience, but these results prove that, with the credibility that we as veterans bring to the debate, it is not too late to shape the public's perception of the war in Iraq.

The debate will be shown in its entirety on BBC World during the weekend of January 5th, and Vets for Freedom will send out a notice when it appears. In the meantime, visit this website for a podcast of the debate.

In other news, I am proud to announce that Vets for Freedom recently released an ad titled "Senator Mitch McConnell" to thank and recognize the steadfast support Leader McConnell (R-KY) has given to the brave men and women who have and are currently wearing our nation's uniform. The ad will be running in the Louisville and Lexington markets in Kentucky through December 18th. To view the ads, please visit our website.

In addition to the op-ed from last weekend's Washington Post op-ed co-authored by Major General John Batiste, USA (Ret.), and myself, Vets for Freedom made headlines in the Washington Times on December 11th. Titled "American Troops are Winning," the piece argues that Congress needs to fund the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan before they go home for Christmas.

Finally, tomorrow Vets for Freedom will be launching our new website. This has been a work in progress for the better part of two months, and I'm confident you'll enjoy the new site.

THIS WEEK'S ACTION ITEM - GET AT LEAST 5 FRIENDS, SUPPORTERS AND/OR VETERANS TO SIGN UP ON OUR SITE

The men and women who wear our nation's uniform represent the best America has to offer. As we all sit down with our friends and loved ones this holiday season, it is my hope that all Americans give thanks to the sacrifice bore by soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. May we pray for their safe return, and for continued victory in the battlefields of the Global War on Terror. A very Merry Christmas, and a Happy, Healthy & Safe New Year to each of you.

Warm Regards,

RUSH: David in Nashville, you're next. Great to have you as we kick off a brand-new week on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Thank you, Rush. Merry Christmas.

RUSH: Same to you, sir.

CALLER: Well, I just wanted to share a story with you. I was listening to old Mannheim Steamroller this morning: Christmas Lullaby.

RUSH: Yes.

CALLER: And it took me back to a time when you closed out your Christmas season giving an inspirational talk while that music was playing, and it was a very difficult time in my life, and I just want you to know how much you inspired me to pull through during that time.

RUSH: Well, thank you. I remember that. I've sometimes done it on Christmas Lullaby, but usually we do it over Silent Night. That song, even though I've lost my hearing and I cannot hear all of the frequency ranges in it, my memory supplies the melody. It still makes me tear up as though I were on Meet the Press, talking about --

CALLER: When it was on this morning, I started to tear up, just the memory of that.

RUSH: Well, you know, I have to tell you something. The same thing happened to me in a different way, when I was first exposed to Mannheim Steamroller. It forget the year now. Well, I was first exposed to them in Sacramento in the 1980s. I was watching a playoff football game. I remember the Seattle Seahawks were playing in it, and, as they would play bump music, NBC going into commercial break would play this Christmas music, but I was unfamiliar with it. So I started asking around the radio station, KFBK, the production director said, "Oh, yeah, it's Mannheim Steamroller." So I went out and I bought a bunch of whatever the existing Mannheim Steamroller Christmas CDs were at the time and immediately fell in love with them -- and then, in 1990, which was a tough time of the year for me because my father passed away, I remember I was flying on an American Airlines MD-80 out to California while I was ill. It was late at night and I was going out for a speaking engagement and I had my little Walkman at the time that played cassettes, and I had recorded a bunch of Mannheim Steamroller music on it, and I had the earphones in. We were at 35,000 feet, looking out the window. It was just a crystal, crystal clear night. It was in December, a crystal clear night, and I'm looking down over God's creation, and this music, it just brought back all of the joyous family times that I had had as a kid growing up with our whole extended family. I started tearing up. The Mannheim Steamroller music, ever since then, has had a deep, heartfelt connection with me and my memory and psyche -- not just the fact that I like the music for what it is. So I can understand how it could affect you the same way, and I appreciate you calling and saying so.

Surprise Endorsement Goes To Thompson!

I had read earlier that this endorsement was going to Mitt Romney, so I was surprised to read at Spree's site - Wake Up America - that Fred Thompson actually received it. Link to her article, Surprise for Romney, Congressman Steve King Endorses Fred Thompson, here.

Passing of Rep. Julia Carson

Julia Carson, Indiana Congresswoman, dies of lung cancer at age 69.

It's rare for me to blog about a Democrat, and let me even say this from the beginning - I was neither a fan nor a supporter of the late Julia Carson, who passed away Saturday after fighting lung cancer.

It's also rare in today's political climate for me to say that even though I made the statement above, I will also say I respected Rep. Carson for many things!

Julia Carson was a fighter! She has been fighting different health battles for several years, just like she fought for the people she represented in her 7th Indiana district. Many times I would see her on the news and shake my head at one of her positions I disagreed with, but you couldn't help but like her spunk!

In an editorial in the Indianapolis Star it says,

"She worked hard for her constituents, often through debilitating illness. She voted her convictions. And she took raps -- for her ideological stance, her attendance and her sometimes bare-knuckled campaigning."

In the same article, former Congressman Andrew Jacobs, Jr., who was her predecessor said,

"She doesn't represent poor people; she represents justice," Jacobs said near the end of her career. "She knows rich people can be treated unjustly by their government as well."

If anyone was ever an example that where you come from doesn't have to dictate what you make of yourself. Rep. Carson was it - as this bit of background on her shows:

Born in poverty and racial segregation to a teenage single mother, Julia Porter Carson rose rung by rung to power and prestige via urban grass-roots politics. Along the way, she never forgot whence she came -- or,
more precisely, she never left. A failed marriage left her to rear two children and two grandchildren as a single mother. The perspective she commanded was rare in an elected official; and it was sympathetic without being
sentimental.

Representative Julia Carson's body will lay in state at the Indiana Statehouse Rotunda on Friday.

May God bless the memory of Julia Carson!

Cyber Pastor's Daily Deciblez!!!

Cyber Pastor's Daily Deciblez!!!

So I can agree that my Deciblez!!! have been nowhere near Daily recently, but I am happy to say that I have finished the homework for my latest class, and maybe I will be able to do some other things.

Notice I didn't say I wouldn't be busy, it's the middle of December and who isn't busy during this time of year.

I wanted to mention a couple of things before I list my most recent posts at Do The Right Thing.

I belong to a group of Conservatives called "Patriots for Conservative Values". This group comes from all over the U.S. and while we don't always agree on everything.

Several of the people in this group have blogs of their own, and I'm proud to associate with such a wonderful group of highly ethical members of the "new media". We have several people who do intense research into the topics they post about, and one of the things about doing this is that you rarely have to go back and correct or apologize for printing something erroneous, but I am sure that each of these people of high morals would do so if warranted.

That's one of the many things that our group of PFCV bloggers have that separate us from the MSM. Folks in PFCV I'm proud to be just a small part of our group of "Patriots" (ouch, that's tough to say when you are a Colts fan - but that's another subject).

Also, I would like to encourage each person who reads this to keep our military heroes in your prayers. While we are busy preparing for Christmas, tens of thousands of them are defending our freedoms all over the world. Say an extra prayer for them and their family as we approach Christmas with great anticipation.

Historical Review of Iraq Situation;

A California Lawyer’s Perspective on Iraq War.

By Raymond S. Kraft

Some of You Are Not Old Enough to Remember That Nearly Every Family in America Was Grossly Affected by Wwii. Most of You Don't Remember the Rationing of Meat, Shoes, Gasoline, and Sugar. No Tires for Our Automobiles, and a Speed Limit of 35 Miles an Hour on the Road, Not to Mention, No New Automobiles. Read this and Think about How We Would React to Being Taken over by Foreigners in 2007.

Sixty-three years ago, Nazi Germany had overrun almost all of Europe and hammered England to the verge of bankruptcy and defeat. The Nazis had sunk more than 400 British ships in their convoys between England and America taking food and war materials.

At that time the US was in an isolationist, pacifist mood, and most Americans wanted nothing to do with the European or the Asian war.

Then along came Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and in outrage Congress unanimously declared war on Japan, and the following day on Germany, who had not yet attacked us. It was a dicey thing; we had few allies.

France was not an ally, as the Vichy government of France quickly aligned itself with its German occupiers, Germany was certainly not an ally, as Hitler was intent on setting up a Thousand Year Reich in Europe. Japan was not an ally, as it was well on its way to owning and controlling all of Asia.

Together, Japan and Germany had long-range plans of invading Canada and Mexico, as launching pads to get into the United States over our northern and southern borders, after they finished gaining control of Asia and Europe.

America's only allies then were England, Ireland( note: Ireland remained neutral throughout WWII, not allied with the US) , Scotland, Canada, Australia, and Russia. That was about it. All of Europe, from Norway to Italy (except Russia in the East) was already under the Nazi heel.

The US was certainly not prepared for war. The U.S. had drastically downgraded most of its military forces after WWI because of the depression, so that at the outbreak of WWII, Army units were training with broomsticks because they didn't have guns, and cars with "tank" painted on the doors because they didn't have real tanks. A huge chunk of our Navy had just been sunk or damaged at Pearl Harbor.

Britain had already gone bankrupt, saved only by the donation of $600 million in gold bullion in the Bank of England (that was actually the property of Belgium) given by Belgium to England to carry on the war when Belgium was overrun by Hitler (a little known fact).

Actually, Belgium surrendered after one day, because it was unable to oppose the German invasion, and the Germans bombed Brussels into rubble the next day just to prove they could. Britain had already been holding out for two years in the face of staggering losses and the near decimation of its Royal Air Force in the Battle of Britain, and was saved from being overrun by Germany only because Hitler made the mistake of thinking the Brits were a relatively minor threat that could be dealt with later. Hitler first turned his attention to Russia in the late summer of 1940, at a time when England was on the verge of collapse.

Ironically, Russia saved American's butt by putting up a desperate fight for two years, until the US got geared up to begin hammering away at Germany.

Russia lost something like 24,000,000 people in the sieges of Stalingrad and Leningrad alone . . . 99% of them from cold and starvation, mostly civilians, but also more than 1,000,000 soldiers.

Had Russia surrendered, Hitler would have been able to focus his entire war effort against the Brits, then America. If that had happened, the Nazis could have won the war.

All of this has been brought out to illustrate that turning points in history are often dicey things. Now, we find ourselves at another one of those key moments in history.

There is a very dangerous minority in Islam that either has, or wants, and may soon have, the ability to deliver small nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons, almost anywhere in the world.

The Jihadis, the militant Muslims, are basically Nazis in kaffiyehs – they believe that Islam, a radically conservative form of Wahhabi Islam, should own and control the Middle East first, then Europe, then the world. All who do not bow to their will of thinking should be killed, enslaved, or subjugated. They want to finish the Holocaust, destroy Israel, and purge the world of Jews. This is their mantra and their goal.

There is also a civil war raging in the Middle East – for the most part not a hot war, but a war of ideas. Islam is having its Inquisition and its Reformation, but it is not yet known which side will win, – the Inquisitors, or the Reformationists.

If the Inquisition wins, then the Wahhabis, the Jihadis, will control the Middle East, the OPEC oil, and the US, European, and Asian economies.

The techno-industrial economies will be at the mercy of OPEC – not an OPEC dominated by the educated, more rational Saudis of today, but an OPEC dominated by the Jihadis. Do you want gas in your car? Do you want heating oil next winter? Do you want the dollar to be worth anything? You had better hope the Jihad, the Muslim Inquisition loses, and the Islamic Reformation wins.

If the Reformation movement wins, that is, the moderate Muslims who believe that Islam can respect and tolerate other religions, live in peace with the rest of the world, and move out of the 10th century into the 21st, then the troubles in the Middle East will eventually fade away. A moderate and prosperous Middle East will emerge.

We have to help the Reformation win, and to do that we have to fight the Inquisition, i.e., the Wahhabi movement, the Jihad, Al Qaeda and the Islamic terrorist movements. We have to do it somewhere. We can't do it everywhere at once. We have created a focal point for the battle at a time and place of our choosing . . . in Iraq, not in New York, not in London, or Paris or Berlin, but in Iraq, where we have done two important things:

First we deposed Saddam Hussein. Whether Saddam Hussein was directly involved in the 9/11 terrorist attack or not, it is undisputed that Saddam has been actively supporting the terrorist movement for decades. Saddam was a terrorist! Saddam was a weapon of mass destruction, responsible for the deaths of probably more than 1,000,000 Iraqis and 2,000,000 Iranians.

Second we created a battle, a confrontation, a flash point, with Islamic terrorism in Iraq. We have focused the battle. We are killing bad people, and the ones we get there we won’t have to get here. We also have a good shot at creating a democratic, peaceful Iraq, which will be a catalyst for democratic change in the rest of the Middle East, and an outpost for a stabilizing American military presence in the Middle East for as long as it is needed.

WWII, the war with the Japanese and German Nazis, really began with a "whimper" in 1928. It did not begin with Pearl Harbor. It began with the Japanese invasion of China. It was a war for 14 years before the U.S. joined it. It officially ended in 1945 – a 17-year war – and was followed by another decade of U.S. occupation in Germany and Japan to get those countries reconstructed and running on their own again . . . a 27-year war.

WW II cost the United States an amount equal to approximately a full year's GDP – adjusted for inflation, equal to about $12 trillion dollars. WW II cost America more than 400,000 soldiers killed in action, and nearly 100,000 still missing in action.

The cost of not fighting and winning WW II would have been unimaginably greater – a world dominated by Japanese Imperialism and German Nazism.

The Iraq war has, so far, cost the United States about $160,000,000,000, which is roughly what the 9/11 terrorist attack cost New York. It has also cost about 3,000 American lives, which is roughly equivalent to lives that the Jihad killed (within the United States) in the 9/11 terrorist attack.

This is not a 60 Minutes TV show, or a two-hour movie in which everything comes out okay. The real world is not like that. It is messy, uncertain, and sometimes bloody and ugly. It always has been, and probably always will be.

The bottom line is that we will have to deal with Islamic terrorism until we defeat it, whenever that is. It will not go away if we ignore it.

If the U.S. can create a reasonably democratic and stable Iraq, then we have an ally, like England, in the Middle East, a platform from which we can work to help modernize and moderate the Middle East. The history of the world is the clash between the forces of relative civility and civilization, and the barbarians clamoring at the gates to conquer the world.

The Iraq War is merely another battle in this ancient and never-ending war. Now, for the first time ever, the barbarians are about to get nuclear weapons . . . unless somebody prevents them from getting them.

We have four options:

1. We can defeat the Jihad now, before it gets nuclear weapons.

2. We can fight the Jihad later, after it gets nuclear weapons (which may be as early as next year, if Iran's progress on nuclear weapons is what Iran claims it is).

3. We can surrender to the Jihad and accept its dominance in the Middle East now, in Europe in the next few years or decades, and ultimately in America.

4. Or, we can stand down now, and pick up the fight later when the Jihad is more widespread and better armed, perhaps after the Jihad has dominated France and Germany and possibly most of the rest of Europe. It will, of course, be more dangerous, more expensive, and much bloodier.

If you oppose this war, I hope you like the idea that your children, or grandchildren, may live in an Islamic America under the Mullahs and the Sharia, an America that resembles Iran today.

The history of the world is the history of civilization clashes, cultural clashes. All wars are about ideas, ideas about what society and civilizations should be like, and the most determined always win.

Those who are willing to be the most ruthless always win. The pacifists always lose, because the anti-peace militants kill them.

Remember, perspective is everything, and America's schools teach too little history for perspective to be clear, especially in the young American mind.

The Cold War lasted from about 1947 at least until the Berlin Wall came down in 1989; 42 years!

Europe spent the first half of the 19th century fighting Napoleon, and from 1870 to 1945 fighting Germany!

World War II began in 1928, lasted 17 years, plus a ten- year occupation, and the U.S. still has troops in Germany and Japan. World War II resulted in the death of more than 50,000,000 people, maybe more than 100,000,000 people, depending on which estimates you accept.

The U.S. has taken more than 3,000 killed in action in Iraq. The U.S. took more than 4,000 killed in action on the morning of June 6, 1944, the first day of the Normandy invasion to rid Europe of Nazi Imperialism.

In WWII the U.S. averaged 2,000 KIA a week – for four years. Most of the individual battles of WW II lost more Americans than the entire Iraq war has done so far.

The stakes are at least as high. . . a world dominated by representative governments with civil rights, human rights, and personal freedoms or a world dominated by a radical Islamic Wahhabi movement, by the Jihad, under the Mullahs and the Sharia (Islamic law).

It's difficult to understand why the average American does not grasp this. They favor human rights, civil rights, liberty and freedom, but evidently not for Iraqis.

"Peace activists" always seem to demonstrate here in America, where it’s safe.
Why don't we see peace activists demonstrating in Iran, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, North Korea, in the places that really need peace activism the most? I'll tell you why! They would be killed!

The liberal mentality is supposed to favor human rights, civil rights, democracy, multiculturalism, diversity, etc., but if the Jihad wins, wherever the Jihad wins, it is the end of civil rights, human rights, democracy, multiculturalism, diversity.

Americans who oppose the liberation of Iraq are coming down on the side of their own worst enemy!

Please consider passing along copies of this to students in high school, college and university as it contains information about the American past that is very meaningful TODAY --- history about America that very likely is completely unknown by them (and their instructors, too). By being denied the facts and truth of our history, they are at a decided disadvantage when it comes to reasoning and thinking through the issues of today. They are prime targets for misinformation campaigns beamed at enlisting them in causes and beliefs that are special-interest agenda driven.
