The Government Was Watching Us

H/T to Maggie's Notebook for information that led to this post. Click here to read Maggie's post.

Also, Snooper makes mention of this in this post.

While hundreds of thousands of us patriotic Americans took to the streets in tea parties across the country last week, apparently we were being by our own government. In an exclusive to the Northeast Intelligence Network & Canada Free Press, an FBI agent risked his career over concern for the future of America and provided the following information:

“Listen to what I am saying,” stated the source during an interview with Doug Hagmann, founder (NEIN). “The Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Assessment that is receiving so much attention is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, and the true patriotic citizens of this country are on the Titanic. This is what bothers me. But is goes far beyond that assessment. There have been very significant changes made over the last few years that redirect the focus and assets of the intelligence community internally. These changes have greatly accelerated under this administration, and the threats have been redefined to include those who used to be patriots. It’s not only chilling but absolutely insulting to God-fearing Americans.”

Breaking: Lebanon Fires Katyusha Rockets into Israel

Cross posted from Maggie's Notebook.

Israeli woman and her children take cover during rocket attack.

Fox News: Israel Battered by Rockets from Lebanon and Gaza:

Up to 5 rockets fired from Lebanon explode in northern Israel while several more from Gaza blast towns to the south

The rockets reportedly struck around the town of Nahariya, 5 miles south of the Lebanese border and wounded at least one person.

Israeli forces immediately returned fire, blasting mortars across Lebanon's border after the attack
BBC - Rockets hit Israel from Lebanon:

At least three rockets have been fired into northern Israel from Lebanon raising fears that the current Israeli offensive in Gaza may spill over.

Israel's army said it had returned fire into Lebanon. There are no details.

The BBC's Mike Sergeant in Jerusalem says this is a very dangerous moment in Israel's conflict.
CNN - Rockets fired into Israel from Lebanon.

Two Katyusha rockets were fired into northern Israel from Lebanon on Monday night, an Israeli police spokesman said.

It's the first time in more than six months that such a rocket has been fired from Lebanon into Israel.

Israeli munitions experts have examined the rockets, which landed in the northern city of Shlomi, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

One rocket landed on a house patio and the other near a road, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Katyusha rockets have a range of up to 25 km (15 miles) -- much longer than the more crude Qassam rockets, which are more commonly fired from Gaza into Israel.

A spokesman for militant group Hezbollah said he could not confirm if his organization was responsible.

Bible Out of Schools, Koran In

Cross-posted by Maggie at Maggie's Notebook

A detail of the "Old Testament" Gutenberg Bibles is photographed at the Morgan Library and Museum Monday, May 19, 2008 in New York. For the first time in more than a decade, the Morgan Library and Museum will exhibit all three of its Gutenberg Bibles, the largest number of copies in any single collection. the exhibit opens to the public May 20, 2008 and runs through Sept. 28, 2008. In Maryland:
A Bible Club for children is prohibited from handing out meeting notices to students. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the prohibition a violation of free speech. Much like the Missouri case profiled below, according to school policy, the Bible Club need only request to distribute their materials. The school took the position that a "third party" needed to approve the request, like the PTA, any sports team...or any government agency. The Bible Club is allowed to meet after school on school property, but is not allowed to notify parents of meeting dates. Decision of the second appeal is pending.

In Los Angeles:
A police sergeant was denied promotions (9 times the sergeant claims) and demoted because he quoted scripture on off-duty hours. His lawsuit alleges that this is common practice for the LAPD. The sergeant, when off-duty, is a senior pastor. At the request of an officer's family, he
conducted funeral services for the officer, and he quoted Corinthians 6, which mentions the "unrighteous:" fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, effeminates, abusers of themselves with mankind, thieves, the covetous, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners. The officer was in
civilian clothing, off-duty and "in a church outside the city."The objection of the LAPD seemed to be the reference to the "effeminates."

In Missouri: A judge ruled that Bibles cannot be handed out to students who want them, but the Koran can be. Here's the rest of the story:

The Gideons, the oldest Christian business and "professional mens association in the U.S. is prohibited from distributing free and unsolicited Bibles to students who want them in Missouri.

The South Iron School District's policy is that outside literature by "various groups under set rules, irrespective of whether the literature is secular or religious" is allowed, and this policy includes accepting materials from atheisits, communists, gay rights, etc.," if a group so
requests.

According to WorldNetDaily:
Judge Catherine Perry [in a trial court ruling] issued an order specifically prohibiting distribution of the Bible, and the Bible alone, after calling it an "instrument of religion."

She said the district's neutral treatment of literature is unacceptable, because it actually would allow the distribution of the Bible.
Matthew Starver argued the case before the 8th circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis, on behalf of the school district.
The veto power, the judge wrote, must be provided to veto religious, but not secular, literature.
According to Starver, Perry's ruling legislated that a "private third party (like the ACLU)" had the right to veto the distribution request of the private applicant (in this case, the Gideons).
Staver said the Constitution simply doesn't allow the Bible to be singled out, like contraband, for special penalties.

How ironic [Starver said] that in America, until recent times, the Bible formed the basis of education, and now its mere presence is radioactive in the opinion of some judges," he said. "The Founders never envisioned such open hostility toward the Christian religion as we see today in some venues. To single out the Bible alone for discriminatory treatment harkens back to the Dark Ages. America deserves better.

Our Constitution should be respected, not disregarded.

The Quran is OK, and other kinds of religious texts; just not the Bible. The Bible
alone is impermissible in the public school," he said.
The ACLU initiated the challenge in 2006. According to Starver, a decision is not expected for about two months.

Postage Needed for Packages for our Troops

Cross-posted from Maggie at Maggie's Notebook

Bob Williams
OurTroopsOnline

Bloggers, please feel free to cross-post

Bob Williams in Wesley Chapel, Florida sends 215 packages weekly to the military in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar and Kyrgyzstan - EVERY WEEK OF THE YEAR - 215 packages stuffed with necessities and comfort items for our men an women in uniform, fighting the War on Terror.

According to Stars and Stripes, Mr. Williams served in the Navy in the 1960's. His sons now handle the family businesses, while he works for the troops, preparing the boxes destined for approximately 200 combat-zone bases.

The short story is that donations are needed to cover the postage. Mr. Williams and OurTroopsOnline.com spends approximately $8,000.00 a week in postage, from $20.00 to $45.00per package, depending on the contents. He always has packages ready to
mail, but often lacks the necessary postage.

Much of what Williams sends are donations: baseball bats and gloves, games of all kinds, grips to put on the soles of boot, unending supplies of popcorn, and items for children in hospitals and orphanages - which the troops use to help gain the trust of the locals. All the usual foods
and toiletries are either donated or purchased.

He receives thousands of email requests from troops and their families and friends, and much of those requests are paid for from his own pocket. Items like Q-tips, batteries, shampoo, feminine and personal hygiene items, and deodorant are constant requests. Williams will not say how much he personally spends but the website says it is significant.

Camouflage scarves are inscribed with messages to the troops by Florida school children and church groups. "The scarves are good for keeping dust and sand out of your nose and mouth," says Williams.

There are no expenses for this volunteer group. No one gets paid, there's no rent for a warehouse, no office space rent, and while I made two telephone calls to OurTroopsOnline to verify this information (a human actually answered both times - no option for a choice of language preference, and no need to leave a message), no one gets paid to answer the telephone - everyone is a volunteer.

OurTroopsOnline accepts cash or checks for postage. Make your check payable as follows:

Postmaster
P.O. Box 7560
Wesley Chapel, FL 33545

If you live in the area and want to donate items for the boxes, call 813-991-9400 for a delivery address or contact Mr. Williams by email at sift@aol.com. If you are a business and have items the troops need or will enjoy, and can contribute once or on an ongoing basis, please contact Mr. Williams.

This is a year-round operation - it doesn't end in December. Put these people on your donation list throughout the year and know you are doing your part to make life a little more comfortable for our military in these combat zones.

Is There a Constitutional Crisis Brewing?

There are plenty of places to read about the questions on whether President-elect Obama was eligible to be on the ballot because of questions on where he was born.

However, what I want to know and can't seem to find any answer other than there is an upcoming Constitutional Crisis, is What happens if Obama was not eligible to be on the ballot?

As Maggie points out in her piece, the SCOTUS will be discussing this in a few days......

.....I guess we will have to wait and see.

A message to my Radarsite readers

This post, originally dated November 16th, 2008, will remain on top in Roger's absence. Contributors will continue to post here, and we ask that you continue to visit and comment. While we cannot replace Roger's dynamic work, we can keep his blog going until his return.

Dear loyal Radarsite readers --

This is a strange message for me to be writing. But it must be done. But how? What can I say? I think I'll just say it up front. Two days ago I got diagnosed with acute leukemia. It is considered "lethal". I have been told that it could come to an end in as short a time as 2 weeks. I have been allowed to come home for one night before I go into the hospital tomorrow for chemo. If I survive the first week, things could get better, if I survive four weeks thing could really get better. However, as of now the first prognosis does seem the most likely. I think we all wonder how we might react to news like this. At this point I can tell you that I am in a good mood, and I have accepted it and I have nothing but gratitude that I have been allowed to live this long, and to have found such a fulfilling mission this late in life.

I am so grateful to have made so many good friends and to have found so many worthy patriots who love this great country of ours as much as I do, not despite what we have done but because of what we have done.

This may be my last article and of course I would like it to be my best. I would like to fill it with everything I have learned or felt. I would like to say something really profound and meaningful, but I just can't. I'm getting too tired right now to go much further.

I can only say thank you for all I have learned from you and for your steadfast loyalty. My fondest hope of course would be that I would come back home all cured and find this article to be an embarrassment to me. lol But of course that's not up to me.

Please, all of you, all of you who are my fellow warriors, all of you who have commented here, and all of you who have been quiet readers, keep up the good fight, and I hope that you have enjoyed me as much as I have enjoyed you.

With great respect,

Roger W. Gardner

Dem Playbook Shows Dirty Tactics

H/T to Maggie's Notebook.

By Amanda Carpenter

Dirty campaign tricks don’t die. They just become more refined with age.

Documents obtained by Townhall show the Democratic Party encouraged party activists to accuse the GOP of intimidating minorities on Election Day even if no evidence of intimidation existed in the 2004 presidential election. The tactic is being used again in 2008, this time to downplay fraud charges against a predominantly minority non-profit supporting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Weeks before the Nov. 4 election Barack Obama’s campaign said the Republicans are attempting to suppress votes by drawing attention to the Association for Community Organizers for Reform Now’s involvement in rampant voter registration fraud across the nation. The nonprofit actively supports Democratic causes, such as minimum wage increases and housing assistance. ACORN endorsed Obama for president last February and has been paid by his campaign to conduct get out the vote activities during the Democratic primary.

ACORN wasn’t a household name in the last election but documents show Democrats were just as eager to accuse the GOP of treating minorities unfairly in 2004 as they are in 2008.

A nine-page section of 66-page 2004 Kerry Edwards Colorado state Election Day Manual titled “Minority Voter Intimidation” begins: “Over the past twenty years, there have been repeated efforts by the Republican party and Republican Party candidates to harass and intimidate minority voters in an effort to reduce the number of African-American and/or Latino voters.” The manual then instructs Democrats how to look for minority voter intimidation tactics and how to publicize it to the media with special tactics designed for mainstream and specialty press.

Such intimidation tactics might take the forms of “efforts to create longer lines at the polls, targeting in minority communities,” or “slower responses to voting machine breakdowns in minority precincts.”

“If no signs of intimidation techniques have emerged yet, launch a ‘pre-emptive strike.’” The manual said this should be done by placing stories in mainstream and specialty press “in which minority leadership expresses concern about the threat of intimidation tactics” and “prime minority leadership to discuss the issue in the media; provide talking points.”

Some of the suggested talking points included lines like “Nothing is more despicable than trying to deprive any American of the previous right to vote, the foundation of our democracy for which so many have sacrificed.”
The 2004 manual said a preemptive strategy was “particularly well-suited to states in which there [sic] tactics have been tried in the past.”

The Democrats’ preemptive strike has been delivered from Barack Obama’s legal team this time around.

Obama’s lawyers are demanding that the Department of Justice to investigate GOP presidential candidate John McCain, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and other Republican politicians because they have drawn attention to ACORN’s fraudulent activities on the campaign trail.

“Agents of the McCain campaign and the Republican National Committee have been striking locally at election officials and boards around the country, sowing confusion and seeking through baseless legal maneuvers to discourage and harass voters and impede their exercise of their right to vote,” Obama for America’s General Counsel Robert Bauer said on a conference call with reporters last week.

Obama’s legal team is specifically taking issue with McCain’s remarks that ACORN’s voter registration fraud “threatens the fabric of our Democracy” and Palin’s assessment that there is a “choice between a candidate who won’t disavow a group committing voter fraud and a leader who won’t tolerate voter fraud.”

Bauer made his request for an investigation in a letter to the DOJ that said McCain and Palin were “sensationalizing this message by repeating it at the state and local level in violation of the law to harass voters and impede their exercise of their rights.”

Former Republican Sens. John Danforth of Missouri and Warren Rudman of New Hampshire are chairing an “Honest and Open Elections Committee” on behalf of the McCain campaign to take action against voter fraud. The GOP has asked Obama to participate, but the Democrats have declined.

Bauer said the committee will impede people from voting rather than safeguarding against voter fraud.

“They get a United States senator who's the head of the Republican ticket doing everything he can to make it harder for them to be -- to vote, making it harder for them to get through the lines quickly, making it harder for them to cast their ballot without impediment, without harassment, without humiliation,” Bauer told reporters.

Obama and Stephanopolous: The Latest and Greatest Gaffe

Cross posted from Maggie's Notebook.

Host George Stephanopolous, in an interview with Barack Obama, addresses an Obama campaign comment recently that reportedly accused the McCain campaign of referring to Obama's "Muslim connections." Stephanopolous says: the McCain campaign has not made such accusations (paraphrased), and Obama stutters and stammers all around it. Then Obama makes his latest and greatest gaffe.

My opinion:
Fact: Nobama's father was Muslim making him Muslim by birth. Read the Qur'an and study Shari'a law.
Fact: Muslims around the world consider him Muslim.
Fact: Al taqqiya, mandated dissimulation by Muslims to non-Muslims. Lying to infidels is desirable and recommended. Quote from; True Believer
