"Build Up to M-Day" - From The Presidential Prayer Team
FROM OUR PRESIDENT/CEO, John Lind
So I’m asking you to remember our troops in a special way this week, as the nation pauses to observe Armed Forces Day, a day set aside by presidential proclamation to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of our members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
This special day was first established by President Harry S. Truman as an effort to honor all branches of the military because there were formerly days for each individual branch.
On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard Days. The single-day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under one department: the Department of Defense. Since then, the commemoration has continued as a way of expressing gratitude to those who bravely serve our nation via military service.
Presidential Prayer Team members have been praying for members of our military since March 2003 when PPT launched our Adopt Our Troopseffort. To learn more about Adopt Our Troops, or to adopt your own member of the military for whom to pray, click HERE.
I hope you’ll join me in praying for our troops today, and every day. Their faithful and dedicated service is one of the most extraordinary things about America.

Yesterday, I announced our "Build Up for M-Day" initiative. This is part of that series and the other posts can be found here:
