And info on a great voter's guide you can download.
by NJ_GOP
I was working the phone banks on Thursday evening at McCain HQ (in the DC area) and I met one of the senior campaign people there. Her name is Pam and after she thanked everyone for their hard work she told the group (of about 100 volunteers) that Sarah Palin has asked all of us to please pray for this election.
I was able to speak with Pam later that evening and I asked her to tell Sarah that I do pray, every day literally on my knees and that I know of many others who do the same. She went on to tell me that the the campaign is very aware that this is a spiritual battle and that they truly believe that there are evil forces at work. She told me that there is a group of prayer warriors fasting and praying over the election and our country (If I am not mistaken they are even walking around D.C. praying on a daily basis.)
When I received the above link this afternoon, I thought it would be a nice thing to pass along to others.
So even if you don't sign up on the site, please remember to pray, and please remember to vote on Nov. 4th!!
Thanks so much.
Also, you can download the Christian Coalition voters guide (finally) and pass them out to your friends and family. This is a powerful tool. I strongly recommend it. www.cc.org
Wow what a night and debate. Mrs. Cyber Pastor, NJ_GOP and I (along with our WW II vet and his wife) watched the first half of the debate together along with dozens of McCain's staffers and volunteers in Arlington, VA.
What a delight to finally meet our very own Cyber Crew friend NJ! We've known each other online for a little over two years and she really is a delight in person as well as online and on the air.
Also, what an opportunity for all of us to enjoy McCain totally trounce Nobama with a group of loud and excited McCain supporters.
To top things off, NJ is fixing lasagna for us for dinner tomorrow. Can't wait!
1. Volunteer to distribute voter guides 2. Contact Campus Crusade for Christ 3. Leave voter registration forms 4. Write letters to the editor of your local paper 5. NAG, NAG, NAG 6. Email your local TV stations 7. Forward emails regarding the candidates 8. Help your local campaign office and volunteer 9. Reach working commuters 10. Wear a button or pin showing your support, and get a lawn sign
1. Volunteer to distribute voter guides. The Christian Coalition is a great non-partisan organization that creates voter guides to help educate people on the candidates. I have distributed voter guides in the past and it was very easy. I simply dropped off voter guides at interested churches working from a list provided by the Christian Coalition of America . If the church was closed I left my name and contact number along with the literature. This wasn’t required but I felt it was the polite thing to do. I received many phone calls thanking me for the guides, but also got one or two nasty messages. Turns out the “nasty” calls were from churches that had changed pastors and the new guy/gal was a lib. While it was sad that the guides probably went directly into the trash, I got a certain satisfaction out of yanking a lib’s chain.
2. Contact Campus Crusade for Christ and offer to provide voter registration forms AND absentee ballot forms to them. If you live near a college you can offer to drop them off. Campus Crusade of course is not allowed to endorse any particular candidate, but this is a great way to urge Christian students to vote.
3. Leave voter registration forms in places where people will pick them up. Just today I left a stack at my local Christian bookstore, they were grateful I brought them. Ask your friends and neighbors to put out in their church foyers, but don’t limit it to just churches. Bowling alleys, the public library or the laundromat are great places too. I just left some on the bulletin board at the small community center in our town on Friday morning and they were almost gone when I checked early this morning.
4. Write letters to the editor of your local paper. No guarantee your letter will be printed but it’s always worth it to force these people to read another point of view.
5. NAG, NAG, NAG. Email the young adults in your family who recently turned 18 and fill out the voter registration form for them, have them sign it, and YOU mail it for them (they are notorious for procrastination.) Remember NAG, NAG, NAG; you can get away with that with family so go for it.
6. Email your local TV stations when you find their reporting is biased and copy your friends. The TV station won’t listen to you but your friends will be impressed. (Or not.) J
7. Forward emails regarding the candidates to your “on the fence” friends (try not to over do it or they’ll stop listening to you). I try to make sure that whatever I am forwarding is a) factual, b) somewhat unique, and c) fair. It’s annoying getting the same email from 10 different people. Many months ago I received an email showing Obama not pledging allegiance to the flag. I refused to forward it because I was not convinced (at that time) that the image wasn’t taken out of context.
8. Help your local campaign office and volunteer. I have done this so many times and have always gained great satisfaction in the hands-on work of winning (sometimes losing) and election. The phone calling is a little scary at first, but once you’ve made the first 10 calls the rest is cake. I sincerely mean that. I will limit myself to 1 hour of phone banking and I’ll set my watch to stop in exactly 60 minutes. I rarely go longer because it can sometimes be draining and I don’t want to burn out.
9. Reach working commuters by handing out or leaving voter registration and absentee ballot applications at the bus station and train station where people commute. Here in NJ the work day could easily go until after the polls are closed – absentee voting really helps especially since the laws have changed and the voter does not have to provide a “reason” for voting absentee anymore.
10. Wear a button or pin showing your support, and get a lawn sign. If you take a car load of lawn signs to church on Sunday, people will empty your car in 5 minutes. (This has happened to me over and over.) If you worry your lawn sign will be stolen, try this tip: wearing plastic disposable gloves, smear any available nasty substance on the edges of your sign. I have always wanted to use a thin layer of dog poop, but since I don’t have a dog, I’ve considered other things a sign thief may not want on his or her hands or in his or her car. If you have the style of lawn sign that consists of a plastic sleeve that resembles a sort of “pocket”, a dead fish inside would be an especially nice touch.
I welcome any creative alternatives – so please post your ideas!
Thanks to our good friend Katie O’Malleyfor sending me the pics, story and video. These protesting pukes cut and run, because that is their nature…
Doing what the left does best…..cut and run
On Saturday, August 16, 2008, The Gathering of Eagles came to Somerville, NJ to stand for our troops. Our intrepid and hard working state coordinator, Carolyn along with David’s help, did a little recon of the anti-war “vigil” last month. The moonbats had about 15 folks planted outside the recruiting station in the middle of town (classy!!). The dynamic duo returned to their car and gathered their signs for an impromptu rally of their own…an Eagle is always prepared!
The moonbats were NOT happy. Two Eagles on a corner across the street caused them so much rabid anger, several of them literally ran across the street to verbally harass our heroes. But did they chase our Eagles away? No sir…Eagles are not intimidated….even when outnumbered.
Fast forward to August 16th . Eagles from CT, NJ, PA & NY met outside the recruiting station. Within minutes, the 20 plus Eagles had American flags flying on all four corners. Honks and thumbs up became a constant backdrop.
There were some typical Eagle moments. An older couple came by, thanked us for being there and expressed their joy at seeing Eagles on the corner for a change. At Carolyn’s invitation, they joined us and asked when the next event was! New Eagles hatching! In addition, a wonderful NJ woman, Sue, heard about the event on-line…intended to stop by for a few minutes and stayed the entire time.
A young woman came to take pictures…we are all a little cautious about folks who approach…you NEVER know what their agenda might really be. But we were thrilled when she told us the following,I was upstairs in my apartment watching tv….my husband cam in and said there were protesters outside the recruiting station. I said big deal, they are there every month….he said no honey, they are pro-troop!!!! I grabbed my camera. I HAD to see this for myself. As soon as I leave here, I am going to send these pictures to our friend who is serving in Iraq so he sees what people are doing for him.”
There is no finer honor we can have then to know that our brave heroes will know we have their backs here at home.
After much merriment, the witching hour was drawing near…the moonbats arrival approached. Up the street came one lone hippie, dragging her Soros funded premade signs. As she rounded the corner and saw the Eagles, her mouth dropped so far open she could have fit an army boot right inside. She stood, forlornly, waiting for backup. Finally, she was joined by another leftie who was equally gobsmacked. They huddled together, snapping pictures and calling for backup on their cells. After no more than 10-15 minutes, they scurried away, defeated.
At least they provided a real time example of EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT TO SEE US DO IN IRAQ….those sad creatures did what the left knows best…in the face of opposition, in the face of challenge….the MOONBATS CUT AND RUN.
A couple of short videos from the GOE event in New Jersey. Way to go Eagles! The moonbats were too cowardly to show up, apparently. Who wants to look at hippy throwbacks anyway?
Yesterday was an amazing day for me. I had the honor and privilege of standing with the Gathering Of Eagles organization in the town of Somerville, NJ which happens to be the county seat of Somerset County and is the home of a military recruiting center right in the middle of the main part of town.
As was explained to me, there's a small group of moonbats who stand in front of the recruiting office holding their nasty anti-war signs, harrassing people, and just generally doing what moonbats do best, being rude, hateful and annoying. This group of moonbats show up the 3rd Sat of each month at 2:00 p.m. and hang around for about an hour. I laughed when I was told they are often late, but they are packed up and out of there at 3:00 on the dot. (Makes me think they must be professional/paid moonbats).
I didn't actually count the number of Eagles on the scene a full hour before the scheduled moonbat hour, but I'm guessing between 20 and 25 people were there with flags unfurled, banners held high and signs showing support for our military and our country. We aren't talking about the little flags you stick in your flower box folks, I'm talking great big American Flags, Marines Flags, a banner so huge it took two adults to hold it -- maybe 4' x 6' (?) saying in huge letters "Land of the Free Because of the Brave". It was a beautiful sight. The Eagles took up both sides of the street and all the corners at a busy intersection. There were people honking and giving the thumbs up and others on the street who came up and expressed appreciation.
When the moonbats showed up their reaction was priceless. They came walking from a side street and they were clearly shocked at what they saw. The 2 ladies that I saw looked like they hadn't updated their hairstyles since 1968 -- nobody told them that it not only isn't cool anymore, it wasn't cool back then if the hair was entirely gray.... They rounded the corner about a half a block away and when they realized what was happening they literally stopped dead in their tracks with completely stunned looks on their faces. Clutching their "War is not the Answer" signs tightly they talked to each other without coming a step closer. We watched and waited while the moonbats got to see all the people honking and giving us the thumbs up...this went on for 10 or 15 minutes and then they left. We all thought they would come back but they slinked off while an Eagle yelled, "they're leaving" and another Eagle replied loudly "That's what moonbats do, they cut and run".
