Democratic Socialist Party

Update from Snooper:

FYI: Macsmind made mention that this story may be a diversion and could very well be a "bait maneuver". I added this information to my article on this same subject. http://tinyurl.com/rdxgss

GOP, RNC to rebrand Democrats as 'Socialists'

A member of the Republican National Committee told me Tuesday that when the RNC meets in an extraordinary special session next week, it will approve a resolution rebranding Democrats as the “Democrat Socialist Party.”

When I asked if such a resolution would force RNC Chairman Michael Steele to use that label when talking about Democrats in all his speeches and press releases, the RNC member replied: “Who cares?”

Which pretty much sums up the attitude some members of the RNC have toward their chairman these days.

Steele wrote a memo last month opposing the resolution. Steele said that while he believes Democrats “are indeed marching America toward European-style socialism,” he also said in a (rare) flash of insight that officially referring to them as the Democrat Socialist Party “will accomplish little than to give the media and our opponents the opportunity to mischaracterize Republicans.”

Two other resolutions — to urge Republican lawmakers to reject earmarks and to commend them for opposing “bailouts and reckless spending bills” — are also on the agenda, but language that would have denounced Sen. Arlen Specter, a Republican turned Democrat, and Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins for voting for President Obama’s stimulus package has been dropped.

Steele didn’t want the special session to be held at all. The RNC will hold its regular summer meeting in July, and all matters could have waited until then. But the special session is being viewed by some in the party as a “comeuppance” for Steele and an implied criticism of his performance and behavior in his first 100 days in office.

34 Days Until Republican National Convention

Now that we are back in the saddle here at Do The Right Thing, I am starting a countdown to the Republican National Convention. For those who may not know, our small blog has been selected to receive "Special Press" credentials for the convention, and we plan on doing our part in getting the reporting out to our blog readers and our BTR listeners.

I will be talking with Chad from Grizzly Groundswell this week to coordinate how our blog and radio program can work with a network of several others to be a part of this huge event.

For now, prayers are needed, and if you would like to help fund our trip to Minneapolis, you can contact me at hopecyberpastor@gmail.com.

GOP Wins Blogosphere Battle

This story is from James Richardson from the RNC and is posted at GOP.com - Cyber Pastor

All in all, the liberal blogosphere should take heed: You're not as powerful as you think and it's about results not PR.

The results are in and not in the favor of the liberal bloggers who were anticipating victory all last week. The voters have spoken and there just wasn’t a "Latta" love for Robin Weirauch’s extreme agenda. Robin Weirauch, if elected, planned on joining the most liberal ranks of Congress and the liberal blogosphere tried to enable her sad, third attempt.

For the third time voters rejected Weirauch’s “MoveOn Agenda” deciding to support a committed Republican. Article after article poured out of the liberal blogosphere. In fact, here are a few of my favorite quotes: “There's widespread discontent;” “The Republicans have done what they can to try and raise money on the Intertubes;” and “I feel kinda sorry for how incompetent these guys are.” I'm sorry but I must have read that wrong, Markos.

Make no doubt about it, Republicans have a strong web-effort but we, unlike extreme liberals, don’t need to constantly brag about it – we aim for results. The DCCC and liberal blogosphere gave this everything they had, it just wasn’t good enough. For weeks the Democrats have been claiming “As Ohio goes, so goes the nation.” Well, I have to say I agree with them. They discredited their own claim and failed in proving that Ohio and Virginia would provide fertile ground for expansion of the Democrat party.

Weirauch had heavy support from the DCCC, Daily Kos, Act Blue, Nancy Pelosi, Charlie Rangel, Harry Reid, and EMILY’s LIST. We were severely outspent in Ohio and Virginia and this is what they have to show for it? We came to the game to win. All in all, the liberal blogosphere should take heed: You’re not as powerful as you think and it’s about results not PR.
