URGENT: MOVEON.org v. WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA

Late yesterday, Congressman Murtha finally tipped his hand. After years of campaigning as a "conservative" Democrat in one of the most conservative regions of the country, he's asking for last minute help from the radical MoveOn.org! He's standing with one of America's most controversial left-wing advocacy groups.

MoveOn has nothing in common with Western Pennsylvania values!

Here's some of what he writes: "I am up against the right-wing attack machine again! This is a real emergency -- with just 6 days left. People like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity are calling me a traitor and worse! This year I've spent most of my time campaigning and raising money for other Democrats, including Barack Obama, instead of myself. It worked in 2006 and we threw the Bush Republicans out."

In case you've forgotten, this isn't just a pro-Democrat advocacy group. MoveOn is the group that called General Petraeus a "traitor" in a national newspaper campaign, recently toured the country with left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore and led the charge against the Roberts nomination to the Supreme Court.

Now MoveOn and its 4 million members have been asked to rally to John Murtha in the most-watched congressional race in the country! Will you forward this email to as many friends as possible? Will you ask them to contribute the maximum amount possible to increase our TV buy in the closing days of the campaign?

Russell TV Ad Campaign Shatters 200K Goal Fundraising overall is reaching the $2M MARK (Johnstown,PA) - The fund raising effort of Johnstown resident and Republican nominee for Congress Bill Russell continues to outpace most congressional candidates not only in Pennsylvania but across the country. According to campaign manager Peg Luksik, "William Russell for Congress has raised $2 million to date, with over $200,000 coming in the last 2 weeks from an online drive." "The incredible story about Bill's campaign is that the $15 and $25 contributions are coming in from all over Pennsylvania and every corner of the country," said Luksik. "This is K-Street versus Main Street. These are patriotic families expressing support for soldiers, sailors and Marines, and people saying they've had enough of the old 'pay-to-play' culture in the Capitol. The commercial uses incumbent Congressman John Murtha's own words when he called Marines in Haditha, Iraq "Cold-Blooded Murderers." Bill Russell is a retired Lt. Colonel having served in the U.S. Army for 28 years including six tours in hostile fire zones. His deployments include Operation Desert Storm, Kosovo and most recently Operation Iraqi Freedom. I want you to be the first to see our new television spot, "Defend the Heroes," which answers Congressman Murtha's public indictment of United StatesMarines. The video is a "worst of" highlight reel from his 2006 national media tour - much of the footage beamed the world hot spots in the Middle East.

As you may know, after a thorough military investigation, nearly all of the men Mr. Murtha accused of having "killed innocent civilians in cold blood" have been exonerated. Still, he refuses to apologize or correct the public record.

Friends, I'll fight for any citizen's right to speak, including Jack Murtha. But I also believe it's our obligation to correct the record when elected leaders stray from the facts.

That's what this ad is about - setting the record straight, and honoring true heroes.

A Personal Request from Bill

Dear Loyal Brigade Member:

I want to personally thank you for the incredible support you've given me over the past few weeks. Since my return to the campaign trail from active duty, I've been so grateful to know that I'm not alone in this fight.

Whether you've given $50 or $1000, or signed up to be "boots on the ground," there is no way I can adequately express my gratitude for all you're doing.

As you know, this campaign is in so many ways a personal mission.Since my earliest years, the military has been my family. My own military career followed in a long line of honorable service and sacrifice. When military men and women are dishonored, and their service diminished, we should all feel a personal responsibility to correct the record.
