Can You Be A Christian and Not Vote for Huckabee???

It seems to be that the name Mike Huckabee can not be mentioned without also saying that he has been pushed towards the top of the Republican nominees for president by evangelicals and home schoolers.

It's not just because he, like a certain other Arkansan, has ties to a town called Hope, nor because he lost 105 pounds and has written a popular diet book. And it's not only because he is mastering a conservative form of triangulation blending religious conservatism with policy pragmatism.

That point is not the reason for this article, which is are there Christian Republicans and Independents who are not supporters of the former governor of Arkansas, and if there are why don't we hear about it on the MSM?

To answer my own question - yes, there are Christians who do not back Mike Huckabee for president. It is also not necessary to feel guilty about not supporting a fellow Christian as I (and many others) don't believe that Huckabee brings several of our conservative values to the table.

I want to answer the second part of my original question, and then I will give the reasons for both of my answers.

Why don't the MSM report that there are Christians who support other Republican candidates? OK, this is simple. The Democrats look at Huckabee as being an easy victory in November. It's that plain and simple - what the liberals of the world want is what the MSM reports. With that being the case, that also should be one of the top reasons not to support Huckabee.

Democrat party officials are avoiding any and all criticism of Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee, insiders reveal. The Democratic National Committee has told staffers to hold all fire, until he secures the party's nomination. The directive has come down from the highest levels within the party, according to a top source.

Within the DNC, Huckabee is known as the "glass jaw -- and they're just waiting to break it."

Let me say that I originally narrowed my choices to Huckabee, Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter, and held out on who to throw my support behind for quite a while trying to find a way to back an obviously good and likable man as Huckabee is. I kept coming back to one thing that kept running through my mind - Huckabee can't beat the Democrats. All the other things I will talk about take a back seat in my mind to this one fact -Huckabee can't win in November and that's why he has become a media darling!

I have one friend who called Huckabee the Republican version of Jimmy Carter in an excellent comment here.

Gravatar I just hope and pray that most Republicans understand that Huckabee is the Republican version of a Jimmy Carter. It's not enough to go meet our enemies with love in one's heart. One must also have a sword in one's hand also to get their attention.(Tip of the hat to Al Capone who understood people better than most social liberals like Huckabee.)

Of course there are the real issues that make a Conservative like me know that Huckabee is not the RIGHT man for America.

Taxes - Good start in 1998 with a B ranking from Cato Institute, but from there it became a steep downhill free-fall from there with grades of C in 2000 and 2002, D in 2004, and F in 2006.

"Mike Huckabee of Arkansas went from being one of the best governors in America to one of the worst," the Institute declared. "The main reason for the drop was his insistence on raising taxes at almost every turn throughout his final term."

Immigration - I'll let Ann Coulter speak on this.

From Ann Coulter's new column.

On illegal immigration, Huckabee out out in left field. He has compared illegal aliens to slaves brought here in chains from Africa, saying, "I think frankly the Lord is giving us a second chance to do better than we did before."

National Defense - Even ABC seems to think he is in the dark!

Death Penalty/Crime - Huckabee trying to defend his record:

Mike Huckabee said his record of carrying out 16 executions in his time as governor of Arkansas refutes his opponents' claims that he's soft on crime. The Republican presidential candidate has been criticized for granting 1,033 clemencies in 10½ years and for supporting the parole of Wayne DuMond, a rapist who, upon release from prison, raped and murdered another woman in Missouri.

I like Mike Huckabee, we are both Christians, and I enjoy listening to him talk. However, he is no Conservative and not the RIGHT person to be the next Commander-in-Chief of our great nation!

Time To Make a Decision

Time to make a Decision

Ok maybe my timing is strange - but hey Cyber Pastor never claimed not to be a little strange on occaision. Many of you know that I for weeks have been trying to decide on whether to support Fred Thompson or Mike Huckabee for the Republican nomination for President.

My decision has been made, and I am now firmly in favor of Fred Thompson for President of the United States!

I like both men, and Huckabee has been quickly moving towards the top in the polls. In an email I received from Steve Elliott, President of Grassfire.org Alliance said the following about there just released December Straw Poll,

"Although the findings were fascinating, the most compelling discovery was the sudden and dramatic surge of support for Mike Huckabee! The so-called "Hucka-surge" was clearly evident throughout the survey--both in support and trust."

And about the some of the other candidates, Elliott said:

"Other candidates, including Fred Thompson, Rudy Guiliani and Mitt Romney did not fare so well."

So why jump off the Huckabee wagon now and throw my support to Thompson?

It's the same reason that has bothered me all along, and now it seems the DNC thinks the same thing that I have wondered. Can Huckabee defeat the Democratic nominee? I'm not sure and apparantly the DNC thinks the answer is no.

Drudge reports this: DEMS HOLD FIRE ON HUCKABEE; SEE 'EASY KILL' IN GENERAL ELECTION

So maybe the Democrats and Cyber Pastor will have to eat their words and Mike Huckabee may become the next President of the United States. I don't think it is something that Conservatives can gamble on.

I've been leary of anyone who is weak on immigration, and Thompson's plan is much better than Huckabee's. When it comes to our national defense, I'm just not sure that Huckabee is the man there either.

So what happens if Huck wins the nomination? I'll be behind him 100%. For now, my endorsement goes to Fred Thompson!

Please note that this endorsement is strictly that of Cyber Pastor (Pastor Ed Boston) and does not represent the view of any organization Cyber Pastor is affiliated with. This is Cyber Pastor’s personal views.

Rolling Across Iowa

I am in Iowa campaigning. We've had quite a few days and we are just getting started. The crowds are strong and growing. The Des Moines Register's latest poll shows us in the lead in Iowa but we aren't taking anything for granted.

Governor Romney has spent $7,000,000 in Iowa and we have spent $328,000. His money has been poured into a strong organization on the ground which we must match to be successful.

Over the last two months we have set challenging online fundraising goals and each time thanks to the support of tens of thousands of individuals we have exceeded these goals, raising more than $3.2 million online. Thank you!

Today, we are setting a new goal of $1,150,000 that we must raise before December 15 at midnight.

Your support will be invested immediately into:

1. Our bus tour across Iowa. We want to have the financial resources to reach every corner of the state. The money we raise towards this goal will help keep the "Huckabus" rolling.

2. We need to have the resources to begin running ads in New Hampshire and South Carolina.

3. After the Iowa Caucuses we must to be prepared to seize the momentum with new television, radio and web ads aired nationally.

Reaching this new December 15 goal is critical to our national campaign strategy. I am asking every member of my team to contribute immediately so we can shift our focus away from fundraising towards contacting voters.

With deep gratitude,
Mike Huckabee

Huckabee Keeps Gaining Ground

Note from Cyber Pastor - I have removed the requests for donations. If you want that information go to http://www.mikehuckabee.com/ .

A new Florida Insider's poll of Florida GOP voters has us moving up into second place with 17% of the vote. Mayor Giuliani is in first with 26%, Senator McCain is in third with 13%, Gov. Romney in fourth with 12% and Sen. Thompson in fifth at 9%. Good news to share with friends, family and co-workers.

So what does it mean?

The surge we are experiencing in Iowa is spreading! And that is why for weeks we have been seeing a steady rise in national polling.

To build a wave of national momentum though it is going to take financial strength. Simply put, we need to reach our November online fundraising goal.
I need you to do something extraordinary to show your support towards our campaign, please make an online contribution today.

To reach our November goal we will needs thousands of individuals making their first contribution in support of our campaign. Yesterday we reached our goal of raising $1,250,000 online by midnight. Today we are setting a new goal of ending the day with $1,350,000 raised online by midnight tonight. We are $80,190 away from this new goal.

Reaching these goals each day is helping the campaign build momentum online. We are engaging new supporters and challenging them to help sustain our campaign. I need you to be a new contributor.

The reason why we are setting these daily goals is to motivate new supporters to help fund our efforts to reach voters and promote the issues we are fighting for: the FairTax, secure borders, preventative health care and fiscal restraint in Washington.

As someone said recently on our campaign blog, and I am paraphrasing, I like Mike Huckabee but what I really like is that he fights for important ideas.

Help me fight for our ideas today.

With deep gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Cyber Pastor's Daily Deciblez!!!

Cyber Pastor, with his son, and grandson earlier this year at Red Lobster! My son makes a good uncle as he holds the newest member of our family. Time flies, as my grandson is 6 months old this week.

OK, I know, the posts have been not be plentiful the last couple of days, and we've not had a post from Dean in a couple of days too. Too much from here to even put in print, and Dean has been real busy as well, so I encouraged him to take his time before the next post in the series, Israel, America's Greatest Ally!

A couple of my posts today have financial solicitations with them. I am not, and I don't believe I ever have, ask my readers to contribute funds for a cause. I'm not asking here either! However, I wanted to include the links to give folks an opportunity to give if they wish. So, I'm not asking or encouraging, but the links are they if you so choose.

It is still Veteran's Awareness Week, and in the next paragraph I want to tell you about my friend who is a Korean War vet. He was in Field Artillery and still has ringing in his ears from all the noise.

I want to give a special mention to my good friend and the veteran I mentioned , Eugene, who turned 76 today. It's not just because of his birthday being today, but at 12:40 am, his sister passed away. I know what it's like to have a close member of my family die on my birthday. So Happy Birthday, Eugene, and may Nellie rest in peace!
