PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER REQUESTS
FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 15-21, 2007

President Bush will host two key world leaders in the coming days. On November 15 he welcomes to the White House Salva Kiir, First Vice President of the Government of National Unity of Sudan and President of the Government of Southern Sudan. The two leaders will discuss the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, the situation in Darfur and the status of ongoing peace talks to end the violence there. On November 16 he will welcome to the White House Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda of Japan for his first visit to Washington as Prime Minister.

Pray for President Bush as he meets with both these leaders, seeking to strengthen friendships and the alliance of our nations, asking God’s presence, guidance and wisdom in each encounter. As President Bush has declared November 16 to be National Adoption Day, pray for all children who still await adoption, asking God to move in the hearts of potential adoptive parents while comforting children and teens who wait. Give thanks for the great history of adoption in our nation, praying that it may be further strengthened so no child is without a home.

Pray for Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte as he travels to Pakistan this week, seeking to provide support and encourage stability so that nation may return to its democratic foundations.

The nation pauses to observe the Thanksgiving holiday next week. Pray that the practice of giving gratitude and thanks to God will grow in our country, defeating cynicism and entitlement among all citizens. Pray for an outpouring of praise to our loving God.

There is now less than one year remaining until the presidential election! Let’s continue to pray for the candidates, their campaigns and for God’s will to be done in the primary process. Be sure to check out our new Pray the Vote website for prayer resources and exciting information. Join the thousands who are praying for God's will to be done in our election process.

As Democratic presidential candidates gather in Las Vegas, NV on Thursday, November 15, pray for this debate, that the highest purposes of such debates will be served. Pray that the candidates will each faithfully represent their views so voters may make intelligent and informed decisions as primary season approaches.

As lawmakers, clergy and others have joined together on the steps of the Georgia State Capitol to pray for rain for the parched state and region, pray with them for a miracle from the hand of God. Pray that rain will come soon, and that God will be glorified.

The number of roadside bombs or Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) used against coalition troops in Iraq has declined significantly! Give thanks and praise to God for the continued success in Iraq. Rocket and mortar attacks are also at their lowest level in almost two years. Continue to pray for peace for that nation and for the city of Baghdad.

Pray for President Bush’s nominee to the post of Secretary of Agriculture, Ed Schafer, as he prepares for confirmation hearings before the Senate Agriculture Committee. Ask God to guide and prepare him to serve our nation by serving our farmers, ranchers and others with a vital stake in agriculture.

Give thanks for our troops, praising God for their dedicated service as they protect our freedoms. Pray that those who will celebrate the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays away from their families will be strengthened and comforted by God.
