UK Christian Group Prepares Lawsuit Against Google.

In the UK a Christian group is poised to bring a lawsuit against internet search engine giant Google. The lawsuit involves Google’s refusal to accept an advertisement for the group.

The Christian Institute (CI) is in process for the lawsuit which alleges Google is refusing their advert in defiance of the Equality Act 2006.

Briefly stated, the Equality Act 2006 has three main purposes:

1] To establish the Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR).

2] To make discrimination unlawful on the grounds of religion or belief in the provision of goods, facilities and services, the disposal and management of premises, education, and the exercise of public functions.

3] To create a duty on public authorities to promote equality of opportunity between men and women, and to prohibit sex discrimination in the exercise of public functions.

It is the issue of refusing to accept the Christian Institutes advert for a link on a sidebar whenever the word abortion is googled which is at the centre of the controversy. The CI had offered the advert with the apparent hope of providing balance to the issue of abortion. While Google is willing to accept adverts with abortion content if the linked site is a non-religious site, it has a policy of refusing such content from "websites which contain "abortion and religious-related content".

It would seem perhaps, Goliath is about to meet David. The draft ad as proposed by the CI appears to be both in good taste and uncritical of a persons right to choose. The draft copy was as follows:

"UK abortion law: Key news and views on abortion law from The Christian Institute. http://www.christian.org.uk.%22/

The lawsuit is certain to draw widespread attention in both the UK and abroad. Google has on their website a statement of purpose which reads in part.
"Google was founded with a clear vision in mind: To organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful."
That might on the face of it appear to hold true only if the information to be presented is able to find favor with Google’s advert policy board.

Google just needs to fess up on this, it is after all a private company, and they have a right to feel or believe anything they want to. But to refuse an advert on the premise that it conjoins religion and abortion is patently ignorant. Pro or Con isn't really the issue though, the issue is, can someone of Google’s size afford to raise the specter of Anti-Trust hearings and lawsuits in front of government watchdogs?

Hope not, Google is one of those things in life that just works too well the way it is, unlike the Telephone Anti-Trust break ups in the U.S. which made all of us suffer equally with flapdoodie service.

As a Christian, I don’t really need or seek preferential treatment from any person or Company; I do however prefer to not be treated badly by a Corporation for my belief system. At this point a boycott of Google aside from being unmanageably unworkable is also akin to shooting my left foot when my right foot stumbles.

I remember my son when he was five, explaining to his kindergarten class what his father did for a living. "My Daddy," he said, "pretends to be people."

There have been quite a few of them. Prophets from the Old and New Testaments, a couple of Christian saints, generals of various nationalities and different centuries, several kings, three American presidents, a French cardinal and two geniuses, including Michelangelo. If you want the ceiling repainted I'll do my best. There always seems to be a lot of different fellows up here. I'm never sure which one of them gets to talk. Right now, I guess I'm the guy.

As I pondered our visit tonight, it struck me: If my Creator gave me the gift to connect you with the hearts and minds of those great men, then I want to use that same gift now to re-connect you with your own sense of liberty...your own freedom of thought...your own compass for what is right.

Dedicating the memorial at a Gettysburg, Abraham Lincoln said of America, "We are now engaged in a great Civil War, testing whether this nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure."

Those words are true again. I believe that we are again engaged in a great civil war, a cultural war that's about to hijack your birthright to think and say what resides in your heart. I fear you no longer trust the pulsing lifeblood of liberty inside you...the stuff that made this country rise from wilderness into the miracle that it is.

Let me back up. About a year ago I became president of the National Rifle Association, which protects the right to keep and bear arms. I ran for office, I was elected, and now I serve...I serve as a moving target for the media who've called me everything from "ridiculous" and "duped" to a "brain-injured senile, crazy old man." I know...I'm pretty old...but I sure Lord ain't senile.

As I have stood in the crosshairs of those who target Second Amendment freedoms, I've realized that firearms are not the only issue. No, it's much, much bigger than that.
I've come to understand that a cultural war is raging across our land, in which, with Orwellian fervor, certain acceptable thoughts and speech are mandated.

For example, I marched for civil rights with Dr. King in 1963 - long before Hollywood found it fashionable. But when I told an audience last year that white pride is just as valid as black pride or red pride or anyone else's pride, they called me a racist.

I've worked with brilliantly talented homosexuals all my life. But when I told an audience that gay rights should extend no further than your rights or my rights, I was called a homophobe.

I served in World War II against the Axis powers. But during a speech, when I drew an analogy between singling out innocent Jews and singling out innocent gun owners, I was called an anti-Semite.

Everyone I know knows I would never raise a closed fist against my country. But when I asked an audience to oppose this cultural persecution, I was compared to Timothy McVeigh.
From Time magazine to friends and colleagues, they're essentially saying, "Chuck, how dare you speak your mind. You are using language not authorized for public consumption!"
But I am not afraid. If Americans believed in political correctness, we'd still be King George's boys - subjects bound to the British crown.

In his book, "The End of Sanity," Martin Gross writes that "blatantly irrational behavior is rapidly being established as the norm in almost every area of human endeavor. There seem to be new customs, new rules, new anti-intellectual theories regularly foisted on us from every direction.

Underneath, the nation is roiling. Americans know something without a name is undermining the nation, turning the mind mushy when it comes to separating truth from falsehood and right from wrong. And they don't like it."

Islam and Christianity:Looking at the Numbers

There were two recent news items which had to do with Islam. The first seemed to indicate that Islam is in the ascendency, while the second gave a slightly different perspective.

The first story involved a statement from the Vatican which said that for the first time, Muslims now outnumber Catholics. Muslims make up 19.2 per cent of the world’s population, compared to Catholics who make up 17.2 per cent. This is mainly due to demographics: Muslims tend to still have large families, while Catholics are having much smaller families. Of course if all Christians are considered together, they make up 33 percent of the world’s population, or about 2 billion people. By contrast, there are around 1.3 billion Muslims in the world today.

The second story involved the baptism of former Muslim Magdi Allam by the Pope on Easter Sunday. This was a noted conversion which made world headlines. Allam, an Italian journalist and author, left Islam, renouncing it as a religion of violence. He said, “Upon my first Easter as a Christian I have not only discovered Jesus, but I have discovered for the first time the true and only God”.

But there is a third story about Islam that most of the mainstream media is not reporting, and that is a very significant story indeed. It involves not just the conversion of one Muslim, like Allam, but many, indeed millions. The truth is, there has recently been a tsunami of Muslim converts to Christianity.

In a recent article Andrew Walden offers some amazing statistics: “In every hour, 667 Muslims convert to Christianity. Every day, 16,000 Muslims convert to Christianity. Every year, 6 million Muslims convert to Christianity.” These are some remarkable figures indeed.

As already mentioned, the rise in numbers in Islam is mainly due to demographics, not conversions. “This is more than the normal flow between two large religious communities. Islam can point to little in the way of recent conversions. Its claim to be the world’s fastest-growing religion stems mostly from the high birth rate in Islamic countries, whose infant mortality rates have been cut by the introduction of Western medicine. Christian growth is based on adult conversion. As leading Christian evangelist Wolfgang Simpson writes, ‘More Muslims have come to Christ in the last two decades than in all of history’.”

Walden looks at a number of Muslim countries where significant conversion rates to Christianity are occurring. He also looks at Western nations where Muslims are leaving their faith: “Islam is also losing adherents in areas where Islamist harassment is heavy on the streets. The London Times estimates 15% of Muslims living in Western Europe have left Islam - 200,000 in the UK alone. Those who leave often face harassment, threats, and attack.”

In another recent article Joel Rosenberg also picks up on this issue, with what he calls the “untold story” of Muslims leaving the faith in droves. He says, “The God of the Bible is moving powerfully in the Middle East to draw men, women and children to His heart and adopt them into His family in record numbers. More Muslims have come to faith in Jesus Christ over the last thirty years - and specifically over the last seven to ten years - than at any other time in human history. There is a revival going on among the ancient Catholic, Coptic, and Chaldean churches. Today, the Church is being truly resurrected in the lands of its birth.”

He examines a number of Middle Eastern nations, and presents some encouraging figures. Consider some cases: “In Afghanistan , for example, there were only 17 known evangelical Christians in the country before al-Qaeda attacked the United States . Today, there are well over 10,000 Afghan followers of Christ and the number is growing steadily.”

In Uzbekistan there were no known Muslim converts to Christ in 1990, but now there are more than 30,000. In Egypt more “than 1 million Egyptians have trusted Christ over the past decade or so, report Egyptian church leaders. The Egyptian Bible Society told me they used to sell about 3,000 copies of the Jesus film a year in the early 1990s. But in 2005 they sold 600,000 copies, plus 750,000 copies of the Bible on tape (in Arabic) and about a half million copies of the Arabic New Testament.”

In Sudan, despite “a ferocious civil war, genocide and widespread religious persecution, particularly in the Darfur region - or perhaps because of such tragedies - church leaders there tell me that more than 1 million Sudanese have made decisions to follow Jesus Christ just since 2001. Since the early 1990s, more than 5 million Sudanese have become followers of Jesus. Seminary classes to train desperately-needed new pastors are held in mountain caves. Hundreds of churches have been planted, and thousands of small group Bible studies are being held in secret throughout the country.”

In Iran in”1979 when the Ayatollah Khomeini led the Islamic Revolution, there were only about 500 known Muslim converts to Christianity. Today, interviews with two dozen Iranian pastors and church leaders reveals that there are well over 1 million Shia Muslim converts to Christianity.”

How is this all happening? “One of the most dramatic developments is that many Muslims throughout the Middle East and even in the United States are seeing dreams and visions of Jesus. They are coming into churches explaining that they have already converted and now need a Bible and guidance on how to follow Jesus. This is in fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. The Hebrew Prophet Joel told us that ‘in the last days, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days….And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.’ (Joel 2:28-32)”

Concludes Rosenberg, “Is life easy for these Muslim converts? By no means. They face ostracism from their families. They face persecution from their communities. They face being fired by their employers. They face imprisonment by their governments. They face torture and even death at the hands of Muslim extremists. But they are coming to Christ anyway. They are becoming convinced that Jesus is, in fact, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and that no one comes to the Father in heaven except through faith in Jesus’ death on the cross and powerful resurrection from the dead.”

Muslims may be gaining numbers mainly because of larger families, but Christians are growing in number because of an actual encounter with the living Saviour who once was dead but now lives. These are exciting times, and in the midst of so much gloom and doom, we need to be aware of such good news stories. God is at work and is doing powerful things in the Muslim world. We need to keep praying, believing and acting to see more of this take place.

An Explanation of The Picture

I thought I would explain the picture in the article below that has absolutely nothing to do with the article. It's my new profile picture. 

Mrs. CP took the picture of me last week when we were on the LST 325 in Evansville. I was a Morse Intercept Operator when I was in the Army back in the day. I don't have any pictures of me at work from those days, as I worked in a classified area, and cameras were out of the picture :) .

In the radio room of the LST, this was the closest I have seen to what I did way back when, and it brings back lots of memories of stealing "commie code"!

Democrats Send Letter to Bush Calling for New Iraq Strategy

WASHINGTON —  Democrats signaled on Friday that they don't see much hope in ending the Iraq war this year so long as President Bush insists U.S. troops remain committed there in large numbers. (An intelligent bunch they are. Wonder what gave them the big clue - maybe the success of The Surge)

But party leaders wrote to Bush on Friday anyhow, telling him it's not too late to change course and pleading with him not to leave the war for the next president to handle. (It's not to late to change from a winning strategy????)

"We are deeply concerned that you and the congressional Republican leadership are intent on staying the current course throughout your administration and then handing the Iraq war off to future presidents," the Democrats wrote.

Others said they hope to see continued efforts to force troop withdrawals, but acknowledged they were unlikely to succeed.

"I expect most of our troops to still be there" come the end of the year, said Sen. Carl Levin, chairman of the Armed Services Committee. (Don't you love it when they state the obvious?)

"Until there's either a big enough majority in the Senate or a change in the president's (approach), I don't see a significant improvement situation improvement in Iraq," he later added, in a conference call with reporters on Friday.

Sen. Joseph Biden, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, in the same conference call predicted that the situation in Iraq will grow considerably worse by September "because the administration seems to have no political game plan." Democrats are engaged in a full-court press against Bush's Iraq policy in advance of next week's testimony by Gen. David Petraeus, (that worked out real well last September, maybe MORON.org will run another ad) the top military commander in Iraq, and Ryan Crocker, the U.S. ambassador there. Petraeus and Crocker are expected to say the recent buildup in troops has succeeded in improving security. But, they also will say that a period of assessment is needed this summer before officials can decide whether troop withdrawals can continue.

Democrats called this approach unacceptable and said they would pursue an alternative policy through legislation. They said their focus will be on restoring the strength of the Army and Marines and refocusing the nation's resources on fighting terrorists in Afghanistan.

But Democrats face an uphill battle. Lacking a veto-proof majority, the party has repeatedly failed to force Bush to accept any anti-war legislation, including one measure supported by many Republicans that would have required that troops spend more time at home between combat tours.

Further, the only legislative approach guaranteed to end the war would be for Congress to cut off money for troops while in combat — a position that not enough Democrats support and which Republicans universally oppose.

The lack of options has left Democrats with mostly rhetoric, as it becomes all but certain that the next president will have to manage the war once Bush leaves office.

"The current Iraq strategy has no discernible end in sight and requires the United States to spend additional hundreds of billions of dollars despite urgent national needs in education, health care, and infrastructure improvement, and when high oil prices have provided the Iraqi government with billions in additional revenue that could pay for their own redevelopment and security," the Democratic leaders wrote in their letter.

"This strategy is neither sustainable nor in our broader national security or economic interest," they said.

The letter was signed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, and Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois. (and why would anyone listen to those with the worst approval rating in the history of Congress?)

Republicans said they were satisified with the outcome of last year's troop buildup.

"Gen. Petraeus has put us on a new path toward a successful and honorable end to the Iraq war," declared Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., who last year questioned the administration's plans and supported legislation that would have set a goal of relinquishing the combat mission within 15 months.

Added House Republican Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio: "Our goal is to bring our troops home as soon as we can, but we need to bring them home after success, not failure." (if they would only listen to Pete Hegseth, he says this all the time!)

Levin, D-Mich., said he plans to press Petraeus and Crocker next week on the recent Iraqi operation in Basra (I hope so, because then they will here the real facts and not what the MSM gave), which Democrats deemed a failure, and why Iraq's oil profits aren't being used to rebuild the country. Biden, D-Del., said he will have similar questions, including what political consequence might exist for Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's "missteps."

Levin said a critical mistake by the administration has been to "put all of our eggs in Maliki's basket," when Maliki has proven himself to be "incompetent" and running "a corrupt administration." (Does this mean the the Democrats now suffer from MDS as well as BDS?)

Levin and Biden also reiterated calls for the administration to release publicly a new classified intelligence assessment on Iraq. The report is said to be similar to the last assessment, delivered in August, which shows that significant security progress has been made. Many of the conclusions of the report are already reflected in public statements and press reports, U.S. officials said.

"I read it cover to cover," Biden said. "There is no reason why" to keep it classified. (I bet reading the "truth" will change his mind - yeah and that will happen at the same time Dean puts on a pink tight suit and marches with Code Pepto)

Now the ol' Cyber Pastor isn't normally quite so sarcastic, but maybe it's because the Democratic commercials are on heavy rotation here in Indiana and it's about to drive me straight up the wall. The Muslim Students Association and Jihad Network

The following essay, adapted from the Introduction to this booklet, shows how, as early as the 1980s, operatives from the Muslim Brotherhood, parent group for al Qaeda and Hamas, formulated a blueprint for a "jihadist process" that would ultimately sabotage the "miserable house" of the United States. These Muslim Brotherhood operatives saw that the work of undermining the U.S. could be best accomplished by the use of front groups such as the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim Students Association. But while CAIR was designed to work in the legal-cultural realm, posturing as another of the minority rights groups functioning in the public square, the MSA's role was to be restricted to college campuses, where it would advance the cause of radical Islam and lead the effort to stigmatize Israel.

As revealed in documents seized by the FBI and entered as evidence in a Texas court, the Muslim Students Association is a legacy project of the Muslim Brotherhood.[1] The Brotherhood is an organization formed by a Hitler-admiring Muslim named Hasan al-Bannain Egypt in 1928.[2] It was designed to function as the spearpoint of the Islamo-fascist movement and its crusade against the West.

The Brotherhood spawned al-Qaeda and Hamas.[3] Its doctrines make up the core of the terrorist jihad conducted by organizations such as Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Hamas and the government of Iran.[4] Its agendas have been clear since its creation: infiltration, subversion and global terror with world conquest as the goal.

…To establish one Islamic state of united Islamic countries, one nation under one leadership whose mission will be to reinforce adherence to the law of Allah...and the strengthening of the Islamic presence in the world arena....The goal...is the establishment of a world Islamic state.[5]

The first target was the “near enemy” – the Arab states that al-Banna and his followers felt had betrayed Islam. The United States – the “far enemy” – would not become a specific focus of the Brotherhood until many years later.

The organization’s aspirations for world dominion seemed like a fantasy until the Iranian revolution of 1979. But that event showed the jihadists that they could conquer and govern a state and use it as a base for Islamic revolution elsewhere. There was no doubt who the enemy was. The Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeni coined the phrase “Great Satan” and “Little Satan” to demonize the United States and Israel and mark them for destruction.

“Destroying Western Civilization From Within”

A formal plan for targeting America was devised three years after the Iranian revolution, in 1982.[6]. The plan was summarized in a 1991 memorandum written by Mohamed Akram, an operative of the Muslim Brotherhood. “The process of settlement” of Muslims in America, Akram explained, “is a ‘Civilization-Jihadist Process.’” This means that members of the Brotherhood “must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”[7]

This memo surfaced in a Texas courtroom in the fall of 2007 after prosecutors introduced it as evidence in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, once the largest Islamic charity in the United States.[8] The HLF was charged with funneling charitable donations to the jihad terrorists of the Islamic Resistance Movement, or Hamas, a Brotherhood organization that now controls the Gaza Strip. But the implications of this document go far beyond the Holy Land Foundation.

It is actually a blueprint for the subversion of American society, and the eventual imposition of Islamic law in the United States. This would mean an institutionalized oppression of women, homosexuals, and religious minorities; the end of freedom of speech and the freedom of conscience; and the replacement of democracy by theocracy.

U.S. authorities had been keeping an eye on Brotherhood operatives even before the memo surfaced. In 2001, U.S. officials accused Youssef Nada, a member of the organization, of funding terrorism.[9] Two years later, American investigators described Soliman Biheiri, a businessman in Virginia, as the Brotherhood’s U.S. “financial toehold.”

Surveying the Islamic organizations that existed in the U.S. in 1991, Mohamed Akram declared in his memo: “The big challenge that is ahead of us is how to turn these seeds or ‘scattered’ elements into comprehensive, stable, ‘settled’ organizations that are connected with our Movement and which fly in our orbit and take orders from our guidance.”

At the end of the document, Akram provided “a list of our organizations and the organizations of our friends” – apparently, those whom he believed were likewise dedicated to this great project of sabotaging the “miserable house” of American society. Surveying all these groups filled him with enthusiasm: “Imagine if they all march according to one plan!!!”[10]

Akram contemplated a network of many overlapping groups, with personnel that move from one to the other and hold positions in different organizations simultaneously—an arrangement that resembles the Communist Party’s creation of interlocking front groups during the Cold War and complicates the task of understanding and tracking the pattern of their activities.

The organizations Akram saw as advancing the Islamo-Fascist movement in America included, among many others, the Islamic Society of North America, the North American Islamic Trust, the Islamic Circle of North America, the International Institute for Islamic Thought, and the Islamic Association for Palestine – from which came the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) three years later. But perhaps the most important of these groups in terms of the long term infiltration and conquest the Brotherhood envisioned was The Muslim Students Association (MSA).

The Stealth Jihad of the MSA

Established in January 1963 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the Muslim Students Association of the United States and Canada, or MSA (also known as MSA National) currently has chapters on nearly 600 college campuses across North America.)[11] The relationship between MSA National and the individual university chapters is not a fixed hierarchy, but rather a loose connection. Thus the policies and views of the national organization may differ from those of some of the local chapters.) Stating that its mission is “to serve the best interest of Islam and Muslims in the United States and Canada so as to enable them to practice Islam as a complete way of life,”MSA is by far the most influential Islamic student organization in North America.[12]

Founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood, MSA was named in Mohammed Akram’s 1991 memorandum as one of the Brotherhood’s likeminded “organizations of our friends” who shared the common goal of destroying America and turning it into a Muslim nation. These “friends” were described by the Brotherhood as groups that could help teach Muslims “that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands ... so that ... God’s religion Islam is made victorious over all other religions.”[13]

From its inception, MSA had close links with the extremist Muslim World League, whose chapters’ websites have featured not only Osama bin Laden’s propaganda, but also publicity-recruiting campaigns for Wahhabi involvement with the Chechen insurgents in Russia. According to author and Islam expert Stephen Schwartz, MSA is a key lobbying organization for the Wahhabi sect of Islam.[14]

MSA solicited donations for the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, whose assets the U.S. government seized in December 2001 because that organization was giving financial support to the terrorist group Hamas. MSA also has strong ties to the World Assembly of Muslim Youth.[15]

Charging that U.S. foreign policy is driven by militaristic imperialism, MSA steadfastly opposes the American military incursions into both Afghanistan and Iraq.[16] The organization also follows the Arab propaganda line in the Middle East conflict and has condemned the anti-terrorist security fence that Israel has built in the West Bank as an illegal “apartheid wall” that violates the civil and human rights of Palestinians.

An influential member of the International ANSWER steering committee, MSA maintains a large presence at ANSWER-sponsored anti-war demonstrations.[17] The pro-North Korea, pro-Saddam Hussein ANSWER is a front organization of the Marxist-Leninist Workers World Party.[18]

Local chapters of MSA signed a February 20, 2002 document, composed by the radical group Refuse & Resist (a creation of the Revolutionary Communist Party’s) condemning military tribunals and the detention of immigrants apprehended in connection with post-9/11 terrorism investigations.[19] The document read, in part: “They the U.S. government are coming for the Arab, Muslim and South Asian immigrants. … The recent ‘disappearances,’ indefinite detention, the round-ups, the secret military tribunals, the denial of legal representation, evidence kept a secret from the accused, the denial of any due process for Arab, Muslim, South Asians and others, have chilling similarities to a police state.”[20]

MSA has strongly opposed the Patriot Act, which it describes as an “infamous” piece of legislation. The organization’s chapters across the United States have similarly denounced virtually every other national security initiative implemented by the U.S. government since the 9/11 attacks.

MSA chose not to endorse or participate in the May 14, 2005 “Free Muslims March Against Terror,” an event whose stated purpose was to “send a message to the terrorists and extremists that their days are numbered ... and to send a message to the people of the Middle East, the Muslim world and all people who seek freedom, democracy and peaceful coexistence that we support them.”[21]

But while it is possible to understand its political orientation from some of the positions it has taken on large national issues, the Muslim Students Association comes into sharper focus in the actions of the individual chapters that do its work every day on campuses across America. The following analysis of 18 separate campus chapters of MSA will make this clear.

Update on Wounded Warrior

Daniel Porter is now at Walter Reed, he is likely to return to California as soon as any immediate problems have been dealt with. Apparently the thumb which was off, and then put back on, is staying on (so far).

California Congressman Seeks Freedom For Communists

Californian Congressman Alan Lowenthall is suggesting legislation to normalize and make official the adoption of Communism as a legal group of citizens in this state. Where else but California ?

State Sen. Alan Lowenthall is exploring legislative means to make legal the practise of Communism in California . For a long time the California court system has ruled against the current law. The current law makes it illegal to belong to the Communist Party for certain jobs in the state, such as teachers or other public employees.

The case law in support of the upcoming bill would revolve around the the California court system which acquitted Angela Davis a former and also current UC Professor.

Lowenthall is seeking to make the point that though Communism should not be taught in the classroom, communism in and of itself is no longer a threat to the U.S.A. or it's government.

“There is literally not one part of this bill that does anything but repeal unconstitutional provisions of law,” added Lowenthal’s chief of staff John Casey. “It does not allow communism back in schools.”

This writer would disrespectfully disagree in regard to what is taught in California schools. Angela Davis is an admitted communist and was first brought to task for teaching what were communist ideals. She was taken back into the University system.

Sen. Lowenthall's proposed legislation, even in a state as liberal as California , is guaranteed to spark debate and a fierce criticism from opponents.

Cyber Pastor Comments on Evansville Event

Last week, Mrs CP and I took a week of vacation to get some much needed R&R, to visit with some of my favorite family members, and to be available in the area as the final plans for the National Heroes Tour stop in Evansville were being put in place.

I want to report that the event was a huge success!

Press reports say there was 75 people in attendance, I had estimated 100 -125 but I've been wrong once or twice so we'll go with their number. Factor in a strong steady rain for several hours prior to the event, and as I discussed the turn out with Pete Hegseth, he was very happy.

Media coverage of the event was pretty good as well. At least three local TV stations had pieces on the event, and I know the Evansville Courier-Press had articles prior to the event, and also a nice story that I posted earlier.

Of course, I was very happy with the way that the Do The Right Thing Radio broadcast of the event went. Special thanks to Mrs CP and Snooper for their help with the show.

The folks at the LST 325 Memorial were fantastic hosts and they have some good pictures and a story of the event. All those who participated from the LST in the 21-gun salute were: Gun Salute Squad Commander Larry Hahn ,Marvin Oeth, Sam Richey, Jim Roach, Chris Donahue, Fred Kerstein, Dallas Fickas, and Vernon Barnett, and the ship's bugler, Millard Wilke.

I also need to mention Mike Whicker, LST Memorial Executive Director and Bob Lenn, Chief of Protocol, both of whom I workly closely with in the time leading up to and the day of the event.

Arne Pederson, the Indiana State Captain for Vets for Freedom did a very nice job of opening the program, and giving honor to those who have given their lives in the service to our country. That's Arne in the picture above.

I enjoyed being able to share some biblical thoughts on soldiers, and even more so praying for our troops.

Finally, and the most important, the Heroes from Vets for Freedom that appeared on this leg of the tour: Pete Hegseth, Tom Parks, Steve Russell and Kate Norley. Each one was great in their own way, and they all made me proud to be a member of the Vets for Freedom organization.

I'm still working on getting my personal pictures downloaded and I will share them, and other media stories with you as I get them.

Listening to a group of Iraq war veterans share stories and urge support for the troops during a rally Sunday afternoon, Gary Kissinger heard a message that hit close to home.

Kissinger, an Evansville native whose 25-year-old son recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, agreed with the speakers that pulling out from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan too early would be a costly mistake.

"We need to support the whole effort," said Kissinger, 62 and a member of the local group Tri-State Marine Families. "We can't stop in the middle of it. If we do, some time down the road, we'll be right back again. We need to make sure we get the job done now."

He was one of about 75 people who stopped by the LST 325 on Sunday to see the Vets for Freedom National Heroes Tour, a coast-to-coast bus tour featuring a cast of decorated war veterans talking about the war. Evansville was the 14th of 20 stops as the tour inched closer to Washington, D.C., where the speakers and several hundred veterans plan to meet with members of Congress about the war.

Among those on the tour is Vets for Freedom Executive Director Pete Hegseth, an Army captain who served a yearlong deployment in Iraq from 2005 to 2006.

Let the troops win

Hegseth told the crowd the purpose of the tour is simple.

"The message is let our troops and our Marines win," he said.

"Let them win and let's highlight the incredible progress that's been made by Gen. David Petraeus and the new counter-insurgency strategy."

Troops have made considerable gains in Iraq in the last year, Hegseth said, adding that the progress is too often ignored. Also, American casualties are declining, down more than 70 percent since June, he said.

He said since June of 2007, attacks throughout Iraq are down more than 70 percent, sectarian violence throughout the country is down 90 percent and sectarian violence in Baghdad alone is down more than 95 percent.

"If they haven't gotten the memo, the civil war in Iraq is over," he said. "There are different complications and there are different problems, but that's not what we're facing today."

"The good news stories that are happening in Iraq and Afghanistan are not reaching the ears of the American people," he said.

Julieann Najar, founder of the group A Soldier's Wish List, drove to Evansville from St. Louis with two friends to see the National Heroes Tour for the second time in three days.

Najar, whose son was wounded while serving in the Army in Iraq, said the speeches from the veterans on the tour resonated with her views.

"We believe in what the troops are doing," she said. "I could listen to (the veterans on the tour) over and over and over again. They have to keep saying it until other people get the message we're getting. The rest of America has to pay attention."

Not everyone at the event agreed with its message.

Gary May, co-chairman of Veterans for Peace, said he questioned the speakers afterward about the lack of public support for the war and if it had translated into any bill, funding shortfall or public policy decision that jeopardized the troops.

"He couldn't think of any," May said. "... I think (this) is much more about the political needle being moved than it is about the true merit or the true contents of what's being said."

Hegseth, though, said the Vets for Freedom group is non-partisan and that there is division even within its own ranks about the war. While none of its members support an immediate pullout, he said some do think it was a bad decision to invade Iraq in the first place.

All of them now support completing the mission, he said.

"We want to bring the troops home," Hegseth said. "But not until there is a stable Iraq."
