As the founder of "Do The Right Thing", I call on Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi to immediately tend her resignation not only as SOH, but also as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, for the repeated lying about and now attempting to throw the C.I.A under the bus to cover up what she knew about interrogation techniques used in the government war on terror.

Ironic, that I fully support the C.I.A. which Pelosi obviously did when she was informed of what was going on and the need to keep America safe was at a premium. All she had to do was tell the truth or just not lie about what she knew and when she knew it.

Nancy, you can't have it both ways. Either you were for it or you were against it, and either way -- you lied!!!!

Resign immediately --- this one won't just go away!!

Bostons Going to a Tea Party

If you see Pastor Ed and Annieb in Indianapolis at the Tea Party, give us a shout out. We are looking forward to this event and seeing Thomas Paine (Dr. Basso).

We will be taking pictures for the blog, and trying to get info for our BTR online show, but most of all we plan to enjoy being with hundreds or thousands of other Patriots who believe that the government is out of control.

We the people are taking to the streets and let me encourage all of you to do it in a manner that would be pleasing to God!

Forgive us as a nation for turning away from you. Please bless us as You have so many times in our history. Help us to return to the ways of our Founding Fathers and to rely on You to guide us.

Do The Right Thing Is Our Line, and We Ain't Giving It Up

Ok, I just wasted an hour of my life watching tonight's Presidential Press Conference. It was one of the rare times that I have spent more than 10 minutes watching this new person who now sits in the office that Ronald Reagan respected so much that he wouldn't enter it without his suit coat on. I have real difficulty watching a person blatantly lie and mislead the country that I so dearly love. With that in mind, you can see why I consider my time wasted.

So what did I get out of this debacle? Softball questions, that set up answers that were tailored to make the ideas of the Left look appealing; stuttering when the teleprompter couldn't help; dodging real questions with predetermined answers, but most importantly to me was the misuse of a term that is near and dear to me and those of us who work so hard to Do The Right Thing!

To use "doing the right thing" when talking about infanticide is unacceptable. To "throw out" unsubstaniated remarks on curing Alzhimers is nothing about doing the right thing, and everything to do with advancing an agenda that is totally opposite of Do The Right Thing.

Mr. President (and yes it does gripe me to use that term, but out of respect for the office, I will), if you want to learn about doing the right thing, I suggest that you do what I am going to begin as my new motivational tool. If you REALLY have an interest in what Do The Right Thing means, I suggest that you get on our knees and beg God's forgiveness for the moral failures of our once great nation. I suggest that you pray for God's guidance and not your own. I suggest that you take the lead in returning to the ways of our Founding Fathers who put God first.

Until you do the above Mr. President - please don't try to fool the American people that you care one iota about Doing The Right Thing. What I will do is Do The Right Thing and take my own advice, and I will pray that you do as well. I believe in the power of God, and that is what it is going to take to make our President Do The Right Thing!

Speaking in a brief interview with The Associated Press before giving a speech at a civil rights landmark, Wright smiled at the mention of the name of the nation's first black president.

"He's like any other president," Wright said. "He's a politician and he's got to do what politicians do."

Special Request from Pastor Ed

I have a request for all those who post and comment here at Do The Right Thing, but first a little information on why this post is being done.

Do The Right Thing the blog and the BTR radio program is first and foremost a Christian site and winning souls for Christ is our number one priority.

We also discuss politics from a Christian perspective. Sometimes those views don't go over so well with everyone - that's life and I'm prepared for the ramifications that come with that.

I've been getting quite a bit of negative response in the last week or so, and again I am prepared to handle that as well -- but I thought I should do some self-examination and praying about the matter.

It's no secret to those who know my politics that I am no fan of our new president. I am not one of those people who think we should just sit back and give our new president a free pass while he goes about enacting policies that I feel are wrong (want two examples already - ok, how about reinstating funding for abortion abroad and closing "Club Gitmo").

That said, here is my request: Knowing that some people are looking for reasons to put Christians down and others are more than ready to trash those who follow Christian Conservative principles - I, Pastor Ed Boston, respectfully request that name calling not take place here and on our radio program.

Opposing positions are more than welcome, and I understand that many of you may not feel that President Obama is not "your" President. However, there are plenty of other places where you can go and say anything you please.

This isn't directed at anyone in particular and if it was, I would contact you personally -- unlike some who chose to just write smart alec remarks on public spaces and think it's ok.

My ministry is my first and foremost commitment, and I can't allow things with my online work to jeopardize that in any way. I hope you all understand!

DTRT Editorial Comment: Stop the Assassination Talk

While I have not spoken with anyone in the Cyber Crew about this topic, I feel 100% confident that what I am about to say is the opinion of all contributors to this blog.

We at Do The Right Thing strongly condemn any suggestion by any group that the assassination of Barack Obama should take place.

It is well documented that we are firmly against an Obama presidency, and we support legal efforts to make sure he is not the next Commander-in-Chief of our nation. However, any discussion of assassination is totally inappropriate and disgusting.

Not only is it inappropriate and disgusting but it is counterproductive to the legitimate efforts that thousands of us have undertaken to see that John McCain and not Barack Obama takes the oath of office next January.

Pray that we as a nation will "Do The Right Thing", and that would be for this type of talk to stop immediately!

Cyber Crew Members Together for the Debate

Wow what a night and debate. Mrs. Cyber Pastor, NJ_GOP and I (along with our WW II vet and his wife) watched the first half of the debate together along with dozens of McCain's staffers and volunteers in Arlington, VA.

What a delight to finally meet our very own Cyber Crew friend NJ! We've known each other online for a little over two years and she really is a delight in person as well as online and on the air.

Also, what an opportunity for all of us to enjoy McCain totally trounce Nobama with a group of loud and excited McCain supporters.

To top things off, NJ is fixing lasagna for us for dinner tomorrow. Can't wait!

September 3rd, 2008: The Day The Republican Party Changed

I've been promising this post for several days and now I'm gonna "get'er done". This is my from the heart observation of the 2008 Republican National Convention, which I got to observe "up close an personal" as a Special Press credentialed blogger.

There are so many directions I could write from. I could just do a chronological report of the activities; I could list quote after amazing quote; I could tell of the wonderful friendships that were made. All would be fantastic stories, and I am no way near the end of things to post from last week. Much, much more is coming in the days and weeks ahead.

Through this post I will try to convey the feelings in the air, the atmosphere of a remarkable and historic week. I know my words will not be close to related the power of what happened, but I will give it my best.

The week to me boiled down to Wednesday night. All the expectations were on the final speech of the night, the acceptance by Sarah Palin of the nomination for Vice-President of the United States of America. Man was it ever much more than just that.

From the early speakers who were common every day Americans with backgrounds such as:

• An black female Democrat who was an Obama supporter until 3 weeks prior to the Convention who realized there was no substance to this whole notion of "change". She is now voting McCain/Palin.
• A female Republican who had backed Hilary, and was now back in the fold and voting for McCain/Palin.
  
• A black male elected official from Texas who is tired of identity politics and wants to be known as an American with no hyphens. He proudly is voting McCain/Palin.
  

Something started to click in my head. The Republicans were showing that they are the party of the people, something many of us have known for years, but the sense was that others were catching on.

When the heavy hitters came to the plate: Steele, Romney, Huckabee, Giuliani, and finally Governor Palin, it was like something had clicked in the heads of the party - we are not just going to sit back and be the poor pitiful party that lets the other side beat us up and are always on the defensive.

Let me say this loud and clear, The Republican Party was now on offense and I say it is about time and don't let up.

From Michael Steele and his line "Drill, baby, drill" to Governor Palin letting everyone know she isn't going to Washington to win popularity contests with the media-but to go and work for the American people, there was time after time that I looked at the blogger next to me and said, "did they really said that?".

The other side wants you to ignore the executive experience of their ticket, but this night that experience was shown to be what it really is which ZERO, empahaized by making a BIG 0 with her hand, as Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle so bluntly said it.

Sometimes the truth hurts but that doesn't change the fact that it is still the truth.

Who do you want leading the nation when the next national crisis happens? Do you want someone who votes "present" or someone who when given the chance to take the "easy out" from the Hanoi Hilton said I am no better than any other POW here, I'll wait my fair turn.

My dear friend Snooper coined the phrase "Conservative Tsunami", and folks let me say this, if the 2008 Republican National Convention is any indication, then this tsunami has strengthened to full force, and you can mark down September 3rd, 2008 as the true turning point.

Christians there is now "one of us" on the ticket in Governor Palin. My suggestion is that you....

Letter to the Editor

The following was submitted to our local weekly newspaper. This isn't my passionate post I promised, but I wanted to share this with you and encourage you to follow the suggestions of NJ_GOP in a post a little further down.

My wife and I experienced what was probably a once in a lifetime event for us in St. Paul, Minnesota last week, and we wanted to share that with our friends here in our wonderful community. We were able to attend the Republican National Convention with "Special Press" credentials to cover the convention for our blog.

This all started with an application to the RNC several months back, and thinking there was very little chance that a blog like ours, which is pretty small and covering mostly "Religion and Politics" would be chosen. To my surprise, many weeks later we got the word that we had been selected to be a part of this historic event. 

The week started out looking pretty bleak. Hurricane Gustav threatened to wreck havoc not only on the Gulf Coast, but also the possibility of shutting down the convention. It's difficult to have a major event while so many of our fellow Americans were at great risk. 

All events for Monday, except those that are mandated by Federal Law, were cancelled. Plans were made to promote ways that people could help financially with the storm recovery. I was proud that the focus was on the right thing. 

Finally on Tuesday, there was a full night of activity. However, my two favorite things for Tuesday didn't happen inside the Excel Center. 

Former Senator Fred Thompson spoke to a group of about 30 of us bloggers at a special brunch. I was thrilled to be able to ask one of the 3 questions he took during the question and answer session at the end. 

Later that afternoon, I was excited to run into our own representative, Mike Pence, in the hallway. We spoke for a couple of minutes and every time I am around him I am more proud to have a Congressman who puts Christian first, then Conservative, and finally Republican, and he reminded me that "it's in that order". 

Wednesday's lineup was made up of "heavy hitters" including: Michael Steele, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, and finally Sarah Palin giving her acceptance speech. 

 

Governor Palin inspired the crowd with her down home, I'm an American just like you attitude. Her comment of, "I’m not going to Washington to seek their (the media's) good opinion - I’m going to Washington to serve the people of this country" drew the loudest ovation of the night until John McCain surprised everyone by joining his running mate and her family on stage at the end of the festivities. 

Thursday concluded with Senator McCain accepting the nomination of his party for the office of President of the United States. Say what you will about the "maverick" from Arizona, but it can't be denied that he is a true American hero for his actions at the Hanoi Hilton during his time as a POW.

McCain - Palin 2008: The winning Ticket!

What a difference a year makes! At this time last year, I don't know if I had even heard of Sarah Palin, and I would have never thought .I would be calling myself a JOHN MCCAIN supporter.

To borrow a terribly worn out word - I have CHANGED!

Two years plus back my friend Snooper and I used to argue over who disliked McCain more. Today, we would probably argue over who is more proud of this great American hero.

The McCain - Palin ticket will prove to be a winner, and I'm proud to be on board!

Moonbat Alert for Minnneapolis - St. Paul

Beginning on Sunday after a pre-release screening of the the movie "American Carol", we witnessed our first Moonbat demonstration by a group of Code Pink members. They had a huge banner the had the writing "We The People" unrolled.

I must admit they were being "good" when we saw them, and they were not chanting any of their normal angry hate slogans.

I think one of the more humorous things was a line of pink bicycles we saw lined up close to the folks demonstrating - not sure if they rode them in or if they were props, but it looked very funny.

On a less "funny" note, there were some demonstrators today that turned violent. I plan to come back a little later and hopefully add some links and possibly pictures of these happenings, but let me just say that will they have the "right" to demonstrate - they do not have the RIGHT to break the law, and if those who like to pick on 80 yr-olds.....

....well, I will let you finish that sentence.

Oh yeah, I wanted to show you some of the Minneapolis' finest mounted and ready should things get out of hand with the Code Pink folks. Nothing happened Sunday, but plenty broke loose on Monday.

The moonbat alert will remain in effect until further notice. Too bad they didn't take the day off out of respect for those who are suffering with the devastating circumstances of yet another hurricane on our Gulf Coast.

Be proud of the Conservatives, and God Bless America!
