President Bush's Final Veteran's Day Speech as C-I-C

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you all. Thank you for the warm welcome. Be seated. Charles and Rich, thanks a lot. I gratefully accept the Freedom Award. And I'm honored to be with you today as we rededicate a great monument to freedom: the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. At this ceremony, we recognize nearly 55,000 Americans who served aboard the USS Intrepid, including some who are here today. And we commemorate Veterans Day by honoring all those who have worn the uniform of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps. Thank you for serving our great nation. (Applause.)

I am proud to be traveling with the First Lady of the United States, Laura Bush -- (applause) -- the most patient woman in America. (Laughter.) Governor, thank you for joining us; Secretary Kempthorne. Senator Hillary Clinton, I'm proud to be with you. Thank you for being here. (Applause.) Congressman Pete King, Congressman Charlie Rangel, Congress Anthony Weiner -- thank you all for joining us today. Looking forward to that lame-duck session, aren't we? (Laughter.)

What an awesome guy General Jim Conway is, Commandant of the United States Marine Corps and member of the Joint Chiefs. (Applause.) Christine Quinn, thank you for your remarks. Bill White, the Vanna White of the Intrepid. (Laughter.) Arnold Fisher and the Fisher family -- what a fabulous contribution the Fishers have made to the United States of America, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. (Applause.)

John Rich, fellow Texan. John, tell them we're coming home, and we're coming home with our heads held high. (Applause.)

Members of the Intrepid Museum and Foundation Board of Trustees, Wounded Warriors -- you know, oftentimes they ask me, what are you going to miss about the presidency? And first reaction is, I say, no traffic jams in New York. The truth of the matter is, I will miss being the Commander-in-Chief of such a fabulous group of men and women -- those who wear the uniform of the United States military. (Applause.)

Veterans Day has a long and solemn history. The event that inspired it took place 90 years ago today, in a small railway car in a French forest. November the 11th, 1918, the Allied Powers and Germany signed an armistice that ended one of the bloodiest wars the world had ever witnessed. By the time that day arrived, World War I had raged for more than four years, and more than 8 million soldiers had given their lives. But on the 11th hour of the 11th day of that 11th month, the guns fell silent -- and peace began to return to Europe.

To commemorate the war's end, President Woodrow Wilson declared that November the 11th should be remembered as Armistice Day -- a holiday to honor the brave sacrifices of the American soldiers who defended democracy and freedom overseas. Today, we know it as Veterans Day -- a day when we celebrate and thank and honor every man and woman who have served in our Armed Forces.

These noble Americans are our sons and daughters. They are our fathers and mothers. They are our family and they are our friends. They leave home to do the work of patriots -- and they lead lives of quiet dignity when they return. Today we send a clear message to all who have worn the uniform: Thank you for your courage, thank you for your sacrifice, and thank you for standing up when your nation needed you most. (Applause.)

In the years since we began celebrating Veterans Day, America's Armed Forces have defended our freedom in many conflicts. And in those conflicts, they have often relied on the might of the USS Intrepid.

The great ship's keel was laid on December 1, 1941. Less than a week later, Pearl Harbor was attacked -- and America entered World War II. In the years to come, as the United States Navy defended the freedom in the Pacific, the men of "the Fighting I" would be in the thick of the battle. The Intrepid participated in the invasion of the Marshall Islands. She played a key role in the amphibious assault on Okinawa. She was part of one of the greatest sea battles in history: the Battles of Leyte Gulf.

In that massive engagement, American forces faced some of the most formidable elements of the Japanese Navy. The Japanese fleet included the Yamamato* and the Musashi -- these were the heaviest and the largest battleships ever constructed. The Imperial Navy approached the coast of the Philippines from three different directions, and it was a fearsome challenge -- but the men of this ship were ready. The Intrepid's Air Group fought courageously and without rest. By the time the battle ended three days later, the United States Navy had sunk the Musashi to the ocean floor, and lifted hopes for victory in the Pacific.

The war ended the following year, but the Intrepid's mission did not end. As the United States raced into the new frontier of space, the Intrepid stood by to retrieve astronauts returning to Earth. During the Cold War, she patrolled the Mediterranean and helped force the surrender of pro-Castro terrorists who had hijacked a freighter in the Caribbean, and did three tours off the waters of Vietnam. For our nation's bicentennial celebration, the United States Congress paid a fitting tribute to this ship's extraordinary service when they selected the Intrepid to represent the United States Navy in Philadelphia.

After more than 30 years at sea, the Intrepid was permanently decommissioned. Despite her amazing history, she was destined to be scrapped. But thanks to the work of the Intrepid Museum Foundation, she found a home in New York City. Since 1982, she has been a museum that educates new generations of Americans about the high price that those who came before them paid for their freedom.

One of the veterans who has been honored here was a Navy pilot who flew Avenger torpedo planes during World War II. When he was invited onboard the Intrepid for the 50th anniversary of D-Day, he was moved to see that the museum had arranged for a vintage Avenger painted in the style of his unit to be right here on the deck. It just so happens that it was flanked by two of the men who had flown in his squadron. The man the Intrepid honored that day is a great American. He's a dedicated servant to this country, and I can tell you from personal experience he's a fabulous father. (Applause.)

Even as a museum, the Intrepid still answered the call to service. I'm pretty certain most Americans don't understand what I'm about to tell you, but on September the 11th, when we came attacked just a few blocks from here, the Intrepid was used as an emergency command center. First responders launched helicopters from the decks. It became clear that this ship -- which helped defeat the great totalitarian threats of the 20th century -- was front and center in the opening moments of a new struggle against the forces of hatred and fear.

The war on terror has required courage; it has required resolve equal to what previous generations of Americans brought to the fields of Europe and the deep waters of the Pacific. And I'm proud to report to my fellow citizens, our Armed Forces, the Armed Forces of this generation, have showed up for the fight, and America is more secure for it. (Applause.)
This morning, Laura and I flew up here with some brave men and women who are keeping us safe. I want to introduce them to you.

Staff Sergeant Michael Noyce-Merino was the first National Guardsman ever to be named the Army's Noncommissioned Officer of the Year. Senior Airman Alicia Goetschel was named one of the Air Force's Outstanding Airmen of the Year for her work in keeping dangerous extremists off the streets of Iraq. Chief Petty Officer Shenequa Cox won several awards recognizing her as one of the Navy's finest sailors. Petty Officer First Class Chris Hutto was honored as the Coast Guard's Enlisted Person of the Year. And United States Marine Sergeant John Badon's bravery earned him two Purple Hearts for his service in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Where are my new pals? God bless you. (Applause.)

They are representative of the finest our nation offers. And they have the support of strong and caring and loving families. And so on this Veterans Day, not only do we honor those who have worn the uniform, those who are wearing the uniform -- we honor their families. And we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.

We have a moral obligation to support our families, and we have a moral obligation to support our veterans. It has been my privilege to work with members of the United States Congress to nearly double the funding for those who have worn the uniform. It has been my privilege to work to implement the recommendations from the Dole-Shalala Commission, to make sure that we have a mental health care system and physical health care system worthy of the sacrifice of those who have worn the uniform.

It has been my privilege to work with the United States Congress to expand education benefits for both members of our military as well as our veterans. It has been my privilege to say loud and clear to our veterans, we love you, we respect you, and we thank you for serving the United States of America. (Applause.)

And I love what the Intrepid Relief Fund and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund have done to support our veterans, as well. It provided more than $100 million to military families in need. The Intrepid's Fisher House program has provided temporary housing for families of servicemen and women receiving medical treatment.

At the Center for the Intrepid's physical rehabilitation facility in San Antonio, Texas, America's wounded warriors receive some incredible medical care. I have seen what happens in this place of healing and hope firsthand. The Intrepid Center brings great compassion to those who have worn and are wearing the uniform. It also shows that the American people are incredibly generous in supporting the veterans. And I want to thank the Intrepid members, and those who support the Intrepid foundations, for your work on behalf of our country.

Throughout the decades, our servicemen and women have shown a spirit of selfless courage. I was impressed by the story of Alonzo Swann, who on October 29, 1944, here on the deck of the Intrepid, had to help his fellow sailors deal with a kamikaze attack. He saw his best friend burning alive and caught in a gun mount. He rushed into the flames. He attempted to save his buddy, but before he could do so, an ammunition then detonated; nine were killed, six injured, including Alonzo.

For his bravery, he was awarded the Bronze Star. It's a high honor, but a lot of folks didn't think it was a high enough honor. They felt he deserved the Navy Cross, and many believed that he had been denied the Navy Cross because of the color of his skin; he was an African American. For 50 years, his advocates petitioned the government -- and for 50 years they were unsuccessful. But he kept the faith. November 3, 1993, under the presidency of my predecessor, President Bill Clinton, right here on the deck of the Intrepid, Alonzo Swann finally received his Navy Cross. And I want people to listen to what he said. He said, "If you think you're right, fight your heart out." That ought to be the motto of the modern United States military. You think you're right, and you're fighting your heart out for the sake of peace and freedom, and we thank you for it. (Applause.)

Laura and I are honored to be here. We're honored to see this majestic place. I love the fact that parents can answer a child's question about "Why fight?" with this answer: These brave souls fought for freedom, they fought for liberty, and they fought to guarantee the rights given to us by our Creator, and that has been the history of our Armed Forces -- brave folks, the mightiest defenders of those unalienable rights.

So on behalf of a grateful nation, I thank our veterans for your service, for your commitment. May God bless you, and may God continue to bless the United States of America. (Applause.)

Honor our Vets, Send a Package to the Troops

Dear Fellow Patriots,

Happy Veteran’s day, and to all those who have served, thank you. Your contribution and sacrifice to our nation can never be measured, nor repaid.

Through the centuries since our country began, it has always been on those willing to fight and die to secure and protect our freedoms that have made America strong. We relied on you when our country needed you most, and time after time in countless wars and conflicts, our military has always come through.

Bravely and courageously you defended our flag, you defended our freedoms and liberties, you defended our people when they were threatened not just by enemies abroad, but from enemies within as well. What’s more, you came to the defense of our allies when they needed us. You have liberated millions of people all across the world when they were oppressed.

You met the threat of Empires, Nazism, Communism, Radical Isamic terrorists, and time after time you have prevailed without fail. You did this in our name, on behalf of your nation, and you ask nothing in return.

We can only offer our eternal thanks and gratitude to those who have been willing to take up arms and risk life and limb in defense of America.

And what better time than today to think about our veterans of tomorrow? I’m talking about those brave young men and women currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have fought so bravely and courageously to protect us from terrorist organizations who want to destroy America and the western way of life, while also fighting to retain religious, economic, political, and human rights for Iraqis and Afghans.

We can show our thanks to these brave patriots by sending them a small token of our appreciation, a little bit of comfort from home to make their thanksgiving a little easier. The holidays are a tough time for our soldiers in harm’s way. They will be missing their families on Turkey Day, but we can do OUR BEST to show them that we care, and that we are still back home supporting them and their fight!

As you and I plan our Thanksgiving feasts with our families, American troops are thousands of miles away from their loved ones fighting for our country. Our Troops don’t ask for anything, but they appreciate everything we send to them.

“We have been receiving your boxes . . . that are truly a blessing to everyone here,” wrote MSG Donika Nealy. “To know that someone is thinking of us is such a great feeling inside.”

Vets for Freedom: Honoring our Veterans

Dear Vets for Freedom Member:

Today, Americans across this great country join together to honor our military veterans. At town-squares, solemn ceremonies, and school assemblies across this county, we remember the beaches of Normandy, the jungles of Vietnam, the sands of Iraq, and everything before, after, and in between.

We remember that every liberty we enjoy--those we usually take for granted--was purchased and defended by warriors; those willing to stand their post, take the hill, or kick down doors in dangerous places so we can enjoy the American way of life.

Veterans Day is about one thing: honoring the service and sacrifice of America's veterans, and passing their collective story to the next generation. These stories, and the men and women who bear them, are the backbone of this American experiment and must never be forgotten.

As John Stuart Mill once said, "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse." The moment we believe our freedoms inevitable, we cease to live in history and sour the soldier's sacrifice. Our freedoms--purchased on the battlefield--are indeed "worthy of war."

And today, with America still at war, it is fitting that we remember the troops currently serving in harms way. Because, as any veteran can attest, just one moment, one explosion, or one bullet separates Memorial Day from Veterans Day. Soldiers currently in Iraq and Afghanistan are fighting for our freedoms today, knowing it's possible they may never see tomorrow.

Vets for Freedom compels our membership to honor America's veterans this week. Whether at a ceremony, in a letter to the editor, or with a simple "thank you," find a way to ensure that every veteran -- young and old -- feels appreciated.

Life is hard, and most people get through it simply by coping. If people are unhappy in marriage, parenthood, career or friendships, they mostly do the best they can. They cope. But is this the way God wants believers to live?

Paul once referred to life as a race (1 Corinthians 9:24-27). The goal is not merely to finish the race, but to win, to conquer. Paul says in Romans 8:37, “We are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Is your goal in life simply to cope, to get through? Or do you want to be a conqueror, an overcomer? How can you be an overcomer, and what does overcoming require?

Jesus says, “Take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). And John assures us, “the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). What is the imperative to enjoy Jesus’ victory over the world and over Satan (Revelation 2:3)? What will be your reward if you overcome (Rev 2:7)?

Although believers must continue their struggle with sin and Satan in this life, there is a finish line in the distance. What must you do in order to gain the crown of life at the end of your race (Rev 2:10)? What will be your reward if you overcome (Rev 2:11)?

Spiritual battles are being fought around you every moment (Eph 6:12). How can you stand against the enemy (Rev 6:12)? What will be your reward if you overcome (Rev 2:17)?

Spiritual deceptions abound in the world. What can you do to stand against them (Rev 2:24-25)? What will be your reward if you overcome (Rev 2:26)?

How can you prevent apathy in your Christian life (Rev 3:2-3)? What will be your reward if you overcome (Rev 3:5)?

What is the key to overcoming (Rev 3:8)? What will be your reward if you overcome (Rev 3:12)?

Enjoying God Through the Word

Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God, that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Allow these beautiful words of hope to flood your soul. You are an overcomer because of Jesus Christ. “Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God” (1 John 5:5) and “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Praise God!

When trials, troubles, persecution, disasters or attacks come, don’t give in to fear. God will supply the strength you need to overcome in your adversity. Notice that little word “in.” God does not usually deliver you out of adversity; he gives you the strength to overcome in (or through) the adversity.

As I read this devotional, I couldn’t help but think God had led me directly to all of these passages. I have recently been through a very traumatic divorce, followed by being the soul custodial guardian of my two children. I have definitely felt like I was just coping instead of conquering in most of my life in the past few years.

And then I start to think about the recent election. A lot of people feel defeated, scared or hopeless. I can relate. Most of us involved had put our hearts and souls into this election because we felt so passionately about the issues facing us. Most of us morally know that what is going to be presented to us coming very soon is not acceptable, and there is a battle coming. But, that is another subject. My point I think I want to get across is that, we could crawl up in a hole, wither away, become depressed, feel defeated and unheard. The good news is that we are never unheard. God has heard our prayers and knows what is best for each and every one of us. Be still and know that He is God! Defeat is a tool of the evil one. Are we going to give him the power that easily? Give all the glory to God who has full control over everything happening.

Remember that God has put every ruler on Earth there for a specific reason. We may not realize why now but there is a purpose.

It is so easy to move ourselves into that place of complacency, being content with the mediocre. We are told to conquer, not to just become alright with mediocrity. Rise above, not keep the status quo.

Think about some of the things in which you’re experiencing difficulty right now. Are you merely coping in these areas instead of overcoming? Express your thanks to God in prayer for his love and the power he makes available to you so you can do more than cope-you can overcome! If you feel weak, ask him for his strength. He is able to supply all your needs (Php 4:19).

I personally still struggle with this every day. The world tells us that when you are down for the count, we should pour some extra salt into our wounds. Jesus Christ says differently. He wants us to know that while we are still sinners, we can never do anything to take his love away from us. Never! Isn’t that reassuring?

Find your rewards through Jesus, not the world. The world will come up short. Jesus never lets us down.

A Prayer Challenge for January 20th

A great friend and Cyber Crew member, NJ GOP said not long ago, "Wouldn't it be great if we could have a million Christians come to DC on Inauguration Day and pray for our country?". I said for Annieb to tell her, "count us in".

So, there will be at least three Christians in DC on January 20th, 2009 praying for our nation.

We are not talking about a protest, making a political statement or anything other than praying for the future of our great nation!

So, Do The Right Thing is calling for Christians from everywhere to unite in prayer on this day, and we would like as many as possible to do so in our nation's capital.

The top dog illegal alien just had his first national security briefing. Yep. That's right. The Marxist clown that won an election that couldn't pass the rigors of a Top Secret Security CLearance because of his enemy of the state associations has been briefed on things none of us will ever be. I have mixed emotions about that but at this time any change at the top of the RINO Consortium of Idiots would be welcomed.

We chose Obama, questionable political ideological belief system and all, over a seasoned Senator with a proven track record of getting things done and a man the mainstream media used to adore before he dared to run against the “First Black President,” even though Obama really isn’t all that “Black” (a genealogical examination of Obama’s family line indicates he is 50% Caucasian, 43.75% Arab, and 6.25% African corresponding to the demographic of his Great-Great-Grandparents: 8 Caucasians, 7 Arabs and one African). The Rise of a Socialist America

The likelihood that the United States of America, the nation of liberty, would fall victim to the wiles of Socialism, seemed impossible. And when Ronald Reagan captured the presidency as the 1980's opened, the liberal attempt at gaining full power seemed to be defeated for good. The platform of Conservatism had produced landslide elections, created a prosperous economy after the economic darkness of the 70's, and reminded the world that America is the strength of the world and that peace comes through that strength.

When Bill Clinton threatened to damage the growth of this country economically, Conservative Republicans gained control of Congress, balanced the budget, and a new economic prosperity emerged. After using the veto pen twice against it, Clinton was even convinced to sign legislation that reformed welfare. [...] read the rest.

Socialism, And The Fate of the Republican Party

Bush, as much as he claimed to be, was not a Conservative in the strictest sense of what a Conservative is. The Republicans in Congress have not stood up for Conservative Values and Principles since the early 90's, for the most part. And the candidate the Republican Leadership offered for president in this election, John McCain, is a moderate famous for bucking the party and sitting with his Democrat buddies across the aisle. The Conservatives like myself that did vote for McCain did so reluctantly, primarily because an Obama presidency was just too frightening to imagine. Don't get me wrong, I agree with McCain on many things, but in turn, there are many positions of his I disagree with as well.

This is why Sarah Palin energized the Conservative Base so much. She was drawing crowds larger than what McCain was drawing because the Conservatives of this country saw her as a breath of fresh air. I could almost hear a collective "Finally" being shouted out by the Conservative Base when it was announced she was McCain's running mate. [...]

So, You Finally Did It.....

How nice for the leftists in this country and around the world to realize their dream of putting a Marxist in position to assume the duties of Commander in Chief of the USA. You finally did it after struggling for decades, pushing your unholy agenda, teaching your lies to the gullible and ignorant, revising history to support your claims and turning our children into good little communists.

You have removed God from our schools and government, you have rendered the Pledge of Allegiance unworthy of repetition, and turned the flag into something to be despised along with the people who love that flag and all it once represented.

Pardon me if I don't feel compelled to say congratulations to you or wish you well.

In reality you have to ask yourself what it is you have really won. What price did you pay? What price will we all pay?
When the bill comes due will you think it too costly?

Despite numerous warnings from many venues including thousands of bloggers who have tirelessly researched and reported on president elect obama's background, you have managed to pull off a coup of sorts.

The fact that your man got there through an intense propaganda machine some of us refer to as the lame stream media, voter intimidation, and Chicago politics doesn't concern you. All that matters is that you won. The end justifies the means according to you.

There is enough blame to go around for millions in this country.The millions who aided, abetted, fabricated lies and smears of the worst kind, villifying Republicans and conservatives for decades. You did well indoctrinating enough voters to pull the lever for your Marxist leaders.

Conservatives have become hated by many thanks to your tireless efforts in spreading your damnable lies. The problem with conservatives is that they don't fight back with the same vile tactics and are therefore perceived as weak or irrelevant.

We even have dissent in our own ranks as to how we should proceed from here. Many fear being labelled un-Christian or any number of other labels you marxist project on them if they stand up to you and fight back.

One of your kind even felt the need to send several of us a letter gloating with veiled threats and not so veiled threats. "We will be watching you. We will be monitoring your blogs and reporting them to the proper authorities." Notice the "we". The army of socialist bots is it?

Did you really think this would stop us reporting the truth about your kind? You have done nothing more than awakened a fierce resolve in us to see you vanquished forever. While some may fear reprisals, most of us laugh at you and condemn you.

We know you for what you really are.But I won't denigrate into calling you vile names like you have us on innumerable occassions.

The old saying "tell a lie often enough, to enough people and it will eventually be accepted as truth by them." That's the way you succeed. Lies, intimidation, reeducation, etc., ad nauseum. Karl Marx would be proud.

Just so you know. We will be watching you as well. There will come a day in this country when people like you have been exposed and retaliation for what you have done will be severe. Veiled threat? Nothing of the kind. That is a fact.

For several days now I've been reading articles from others expressing anger, depression, anxiety and even some who will either give in to your unholy agenda or join your ranks for their own elusive safety. It happens, history repeats itself. We are all human...even you.

I'm not going to attempt to be civil or kind to you. You are my enemy by your words and deeds and as such you will be treated as one. Your lies, your intolerance, and your vile hatred will not go unanswered. It may not be me who confronts you. It may be my children or their children but your day of reckoning approaches.

Millions of conservatives in this country and around the world prayed to defeat you. Asking God for His will to be done. You took this "win" as your answer and justification. You feel you have been vindicated. But I tell you this. God will not be mocked. He has allowed you a time to rule.

I will not be so arrogant to say to you that His judgement is coming. Nor will I say that those millions who prayed for your defeat have been rejected by God. His answer to our prayers will come in His own time at His will.

You can arrogantly state that He is on your side but I say this. God is no respecter of man. He has a plan from the beginning of time that will be fulfilled according to His "agenda", not yours, not mine.

His answer will be forthcoming, and many of you aren't going to like it.

As a Christian I fear the wrath of God that will be put upon this nation. A nation who has time and again rejected Him, all in the name of an unholy liberal agenda.

You arrogantly believe that redistribution of wealth is something new to be tried. In reality it has been tried and tried again under the rule of other despots and ungodly governments throughout history. You arrogantly believe that you have all the answers and that the mistakes made by them won't be made by you. Laughable really, in your utter insanity.

Albert Einstein once stated, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results."

And on the utilitarian side Margaret Thatcher stated; "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples money."

How are you going to continue to pay for your irresponsible agenda? By taxing people into oblivion? We fought a war in this country that had it's roots of dissent in illegal and outrageous taxation.

Impose your will on the people and you will awake a sleeping giant who will defeat you utterly.

The fact that since your vaunted Roe vs Wade has murdered nearly 50 million of our unborn citizens since it became law. Citizens who had a right to live and pursue freedom and liberty. Citizens who may have discovered the cure for cancer or aids or any of a hundred other diseases. Citizens who in God's eyes had every right to breath the air of the free born just as you and I have.

Since the beginning of the Iraq war, your abortion policies have murdered over 7 million of our children yet you scream about the 4,000 plus soldiers killed or the thousands of Iraqis who have died in their struggle for freedom. These deaths pale by comparison to the murder of our innocent unborn.

All human death is horrible, but murdering innocent unborn children is especially heinous.

The lists of your egregious acts and ungodly agenda will be written in your Book of Life. Your iniquities have been bound in heaven awaiting the day you stand before the Father to answer for them. The only saving grace you will have is to repent and through the shed blood of Jesus Christ can you have any hope of eternal life in His kingdom.

We all share in this to varying degrees either through direct action or inaction.

The Ten Commandments states "Thou Shalt Not Kill." We can argue the semantics but the true interpretation of that is "Thou shalt not murder."

There is a distinct difference between killing and murder. Know what it is? No? Perhaps you should find out.

You have told so many lies that you believe them. As vane and vile as you are, you may even believe this op-ed is about you. If the shoe fits wear it.

Believe what you will, I couldn't care less what you think.

I will end this for now. Not much more needs to be said. We know who you are and what you do.

You are my enemy and I will not bow down or grovel at your feet.
You can try to silence me or put me in jail, you can torture or persecute me, you can even take my life, but you will never take my soul.

Know this. God will reign over the wicked and evil will be vanquished forever at His bidding....not yours.

Reconciliation

I wish President-elect Obama well, and hope that even his critics can concede that he waged a successful and often brilliant (if not shrewdly stealthy) campaign.

It seems to me that conservatives have a golden opportunity to offer criticism and advice in a manner that many liberals did not during the last eight years. By that I mean I hope there are no conservative versions of the Nicholson Baker Knopf-published ‘novel’ Checkpoint, the creepy documentary by Gerald Range, the attempt to name a sewer plant after an American President, or the celebrity outbursts that we have witnessed with the tired refrain of Hitler/Nazi Bush—that all have cheapened political discourse. When I hear a partisan insider like Paul Begala urging at the 11th hour that we now rally around lame-duck Bush in his last few days, I detect a sense of apprehension that no Democrats would wish conservatives to treat Obama as they did Bush for eight years.

In the future, criticism should be offered in unified pro-American tones, rather than anti-Obama screeds. When disagreements arise, they should be couched in a sense of regret rather than ebullition. There should be no conservative counterparts of Bill Maher, Michael Moore, or Al Franken.

That said, read on.

Be Careful of what you wish for…

Note the Iraqis immediately rushing to say Obama surely won’t pull out of the Iraq prematurely. Note secondly that just recently they were grandstanding that we had to leave. I had noted earlier a Zen-like possibility with an Obama victory: those who counted on Bush-Hitler to both defend them and be a big target for their cheap anti-Americanism, might not like going it alone as equal “partners” in the much praised “multilateral” fashion.

Obama may just say “We are right behind you when you deal with Russia, Iran, North Korea, China, etc.” Note again, as Europe goes wild over Obama, the subtext is, “This would never happen here.” After all, we Amis have had African-American secretaries-of-state for eight years (well over a quarter-century ago Andrew Young was UN ambassador)—and still no Turkish-German Foreign Minister or Congolese-French Prime Minister? In some sense, Obama will bring welcome moral clarity to foreign relations, because if he really is a multilateralist, current opportunistic foreign dependencies will be forced to weigh in on multilateralism.

On the Taboo of Race

The landmark consequences of electing the first African-American President dominated the news cycle for the last 24-hours. But just as importantly, we have forgotten that we have chosen the most hard left candidate since Henry Wallace assumed the Vice Presidency, in a transparent fashion without fraud or deception. That marks a landmark shift in American attitudes, like it or not. And no one reported on that anomaly, or on the fact that Obama was the first northern liberal to be elected since JFK—or even the first senator to make it since JFK (and LBJ via the Vice Presidency).

On matters of race, at some point the country will evolve beyond the current narrative of the last day that runs something like—‘You redeemed yourself by voting for Barack, and now we can all say we are truly Americans’. The problem with that understandable sentiment is a number of its corollaries: ‘Unless you support European socialist solutions offered by a charismatic African-American candidate, then you confirm America as a quasi-racist nation.’ And this thought: African-Americans voted for a black candidate at a 95% rate; Hispanics at perhaps 75%; yet the country was judged as free of racial tribalism on the basis of whether whites voted for a black candidate far to the left of any Democratic nominee during the last three decades in pluralities greater than they did for past white Democratic candidates like Gore or Kerry. And they did!

It will be interesting when the first Hispanic candidate wins to see whether Mexican-American citizens en masse reaffirm the country to be finally fulfilling its promise—and what would be the reaction of African-Americans and Asians to such ethnic solidarity.

This solidarity may be a natural reaction, but something is still puzzling about hours of television showing African-American ecstasy based on apparent racial pride rather than glee that someone of Obama’s views was elected—all often editorialized by teary-eyed objective journalists. A person from Mars who watched this post-election celebration, might study the popular reaction to the Obama victory and become puzzled: “Aren’t people now saying pretty much what Michelle Obama said twice, and to great criticism, during the campaign: that the emergence of Barack Obama was occasion for many to have pride in their country for the first time?”

Be careful Barack

When off the teleprompter, natural exuberance takes over. The day before the election, Obama was praising his late grandmother and I heard him say that his grandmother, born in 1922, had witnessed both world wars (including 1914-1918?). In his acceptance speech, Obama mentioned that he might not achieve all his aims in “one term”—so we are talking about dynasties of two terms before even assuming office? We remember likewise he kept saying we are only going back to the Clinton tax hikes (up to 40% on top brackets), while omitting the 15.3% FICA and Medicare taxes once the caps are to be eliminated. And we remember that he kept saying he was going to pay for (a trillion dollars worth of) entitlements in large part by “ending that war” (which even by his figures was running at about $100 billion or so now a year (we would need to be in Iraq another 10 years to waste enough that would have gone to new social programs?))

Second Stimulus

After running up the annual deficit to a near half-a-trillion dollars in stimuli rebates and bailouts, now we are to send checks out again for subsidies for food, housing, and power? And how to pay for it? And the consequences of looking for others to channel money to be redistributed? At some point, there should be some overarching exegesis to explain all this. Something like: ‘Compensation is arbitrary and not based on either fairness or logic. So government is necessary to make the needed corrections and to redistribute in the way a flawed market cannot.’ At least then we could learn the logic involved.

Internal Struggles

We are going to witness a gargantuan struggle among the Obama camp in the next 90 days. On the one hand, the following argument will be advanced:

“Look, Barack, we have a historical opportunity with the Congress, the honeymoon, voter momentum, and your communicative brilliance. Carpe diem!”

“Liberals will never have such a window again, so let’s move full blast with Axlerod, Emanuel, and the Chicago Boys before they know what hit them: make lots of hard-left appointments for agency heads, executive branch controllers and cabinet posts; restore the fairness doctrine and get talk radio out of the picture as it was pre-1987; empower unions with an end to secret elections; move on de facto amnesty and keep the borders porous, given how the continually replenished illegal alien community, with periodic amnesties, evolves into Democratic constituencies in key states; go for BOTH tax increases on income up to 40% and ending the FICA caps so you can get another 15.3%. That way we can pay for some of these new programs. Try to create a national health care system akin to Canada’s. Don’t just go for the agenda, but for structural changes that will make it almost impossible for conservatives to win again. Now with incumbency, restore campaign financing in all its manifestations, lest some Republican gets smart and emulates our money-raising strategies. And while we are at it, why not call in Cheney, Rumsfeld and the Bush neocons and charge them with war crimes for Guantanamo and water-boarding?”

Realists will counter:

“Wait! LBJ, Nixon, and others all blew their mandates. Festina lente (‘make haste slowly’). Remember the Clintonian 1993-4 debacle with gays in the military, Hillarycare, Les Aspen at Defense (cf. his no armor in Somalia decision), Travelgate, etc, so we don’t need more hubris that means calling in another Dick Morris and triangulation to save the Obama presidency. Either raise income tax or lift FICA caps, but don’t do both unless you want to gut, not shear, the sheep. Throw the loonies looking for jobs under the bus where they can join Ayers, Wright, Khalidi, etc. Adopt the Petraeus withdrawal plan, but claim it was really the “Obama” plan all along. Turn over the cabinet to Larry Summers and Robert Rubin types and a few Republican-lites like Chuck Hagel.”

So we will see who wins—or whether Obama votes “present,” and the sides go to and fro, back and forth ad nauseam. Beware, we will hear soon a Reaganesque “Let Obama be Obama!”—if we knew exactly what that would mean?

Sarah Palin

There was something bothersome about the treatment of Sarah Palin. Her final campaign appearances and interviews showed calm, poise and competence. Her charm galvanized the base. And yet the hard Left on day one reduced her to a Neanderthal creationist. The DC-NY Republican grandees demonized her as a cancerous bimbo who spoke in a patois and represented a culture that was an anathema. Now after heroic campaign work, she returns to Alaska with leaks that she was a diva, appeared in a bathrobe, and threw things, as failed strategists grasp at scapegoats for their lapses. I hope she completes her term, runs for Senate, and comes back to DC to haunt her critics. Long after 2008, we shall remember that an Atlantic Mazagine blogger for days on end trafficked in rumors that her own daughter delivered her mother’s Down Syndrome child. That smear says it all.

Good/Bad John McCain

Let me understand the current media analysis of John McCain: 2000—“Old” John McCain runs against the more conservative George Bush and loses, so he’s declared principled and good; mid-2008—“new” John McCain runs against a messianic Barack Obama and could win, so he’s ruthless, quasi-racist, and bad; late 2008—“new-old” John McCain loses against Obama and makes a typically gracious speech, so suddenly he’s the new ‘old’ John McCain again?

Creepy People

We, of course, wish to be liked abroad. But there are reasons why in many cases we are not. That is, many governments welcome authoritarians. They prefer tribal, religious, and racial chauvinism compared to our diverse plurality. They like class hierarchies and resent our mobility. They prefer statism, are anti-democratic, and have contempt for consumer capitalism. So why would we wish governments currently composed of radical Palestinians, Iranians, Venezuelans, North Koreans, Syrians, or Russians to like or admire us? While we would wish not to gratuitously excite their ire, their empathy toward us should make us worried not relieved. Who cares whether the royal House of Saud is happy over the election, or those in the Iranian parliament or the activists of Hezbollah?

Campaign casualties

1. No one will again trust the media to report objectively a general election. Turn on NBC or CNN or read the front page of the NY Times, and you will expect an editorial for the more liberal candidate without pretense of objectivity.

2. Public financing is over as a bipartisan tradition. The Democrats may try to resurrect it, once as incumbents they see advantages in limiting fund raising, but no one will ever again believe the mantra of big money + big politics = sleaze

3. Colin Powell. Now a tragic figure. His endorsement of Obama came too late to appear principled (at a time of Obama’s soaring ratings rather than, say, in mid-September when McCain was ahead). And when he had nicer public things to say of the crooked Ted Stevens than he did the principled hero John McCain, one remembered that his former subordinate Mr. Armitage once apparently knew that Mr. Libby had been charged with a crime that was not a crime, and if it were, Mr. Armitage himself had privately admitted that he was the culpable party. Surely Armitage should have been fired or at least reprimanded by Mr. Powell.

4. Obamacons. The timing and rationale for conservatives jumping for Obama became suspect not because of their decision per se, but because it came late, and was often without an explanation of why Obama’s tax or spending plan, or foreign policy, or proposed new entitlements were superior to John McCain’s.

They will be orphaned since there are too many more liberal in line ahead of them to enjoy Obama’s graces, and they burned their bridges with their former conservative supporters. Had any of them simply said in March, “I am for Obama since I think he is a superior candidate to Clinton, Giuliani, Romney and McCain because his preference for a European-model is to be welcomed”, I think they would seem mavericks and issue-orientated thinkers rather than opportunistic.

5. Beltway Republicans. When the conservative party spends wildly, runs up deficits and justifies them by citing percentages of GDP rather than apologies for trillions borrowed, gives us the likes of the criminally-minded such as Cunningham, Abramoff, and Stevens, the morally dubious like Craig and Foley, and the sycophantic like a Scott McClellan or FEMA’s “Brownie” and the other incompents in high-profile administration jobs, then don’t they naturally lose?

Fiscal restraint.

The promises of bailouts and fiscal reprieves from the two candidates were like two Roman emperors outbidding each other for the services of the Praetorian Guard in order to become coronated. Not a word where the borrowing would ultimately come from, how it would be paid back, or how the indebted incurred their obligations in the first place.

As a self-interested columnist, I would hope Obama reassumes his natural hard-left position of his 1996-2005 period that would provide both plentiful column topics and prove counterproductive to his I fear scary agenda. But as an American, I surely hope he doesn’t, and so wish him personally well, and success as a possible centrist commander-in-chief that advances American interests.

Our Church members, our orphan children, the widows and the old aged people are doing well by your regular prayers. They also remember you in their daily prayers for your well being. Thank you for your prayers. We are sincerely praying for your ministry. May God bring you added success as you involve more in your ministry and fulfill his promises in your life and in your ministry.

I need your moral support all through, it is only the prayers that are keeping you and we bound together and seriously involved in the ministry. Without you we are nothing here and our service and ministry is nothing. The Lord in his graciousness has given me an opportunity to serve the people both needy and poor. This is my humble prayer request.

As The Dust Settles...

The Loft.

As the dust settles on what many are calling an "historic" election, the soul-searching has already begun in Republican circles on how to rebuild. Let us be clear: the Republican Party is in shambles, and a top-to-bottom house-cleaning is in order.

But, before we simply "throw the bums out," we must understand exactly what went wrong and not be misled by the media or certain political pundits. The Republican Party thrives (as does America) when it is driven by conservative ideals and a reformist vision. Step away from that recipe, and the Republican Party becomes "Democrat-light," and we all know where that has led.

In watching the election coverage on Fox News, one particular topic was discussed over and over again. The question was posed, "Is America, which has generally been a center-right country now turning into a center-left country?" The answer is an unequivocal NO. We are a center-right country which was governed by a center-left Washington. When things went bad in Washington, and Americans started looking for "change," most legislators with an "R" next to their name became a target. The center-right country wanted center-right government, and the Republicans didn't deliver. Period.

There are three main events which have shaped my outlook of America and approach to politics. First, as someone who grew up in the 1980s, Ronald Reagan was the first president who connected with me. Yes, I have memories of the Iran hostage crisis under Jimmy Carter, and his speech when America boycotted the Olympics in Moscow in 1980, but it was Reagan who was president during my high school and college years. It is the America in the eye of Reagan that became a part of who I am. An America of optimism, an America of conservative ideals -- one which would not back down in the face of turmoil.

Another of the three events that shaped my outlook is the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. As many know, I was in Washington, DC that day. After hearing reports of the two airliners being flown into the World Trade Center in New York, I knew America was under terrorist attack. It was with that realization that I then saw American Airlines Flight 77 fly overhead and smash into the Pentagon with a terrifying explosion. The events of that day and America's singular unity and response showed what our nation can do when put to the test. We can come together, and we can lead the world.

The third event was the Republican Revolution of 1994. Although Reagan helped shape my outlook for what America could be, I had no real interest in politics. The 1992 election piqued my interest a bit, but when I realized the problems facing the country and how the Republicans were putting together a plan that was reformist in nature and conservative by philosophy, I was hooked. I jumped right in and helped on a congressional race, and I have been involved ever since.

So, it is with a heavy heart that I review what has happened not only this week, but over the last several years. Republicans didn't lose on Tuesday. We were simply given our report card for the last eight years. When we stopped being reformists and conservatives, we stopped being the party that could govern.

Republicans (under a conservative banner) do NOT support big government. What ever happened to the idea of local control? By embracing big government programs like the prescription drug plan and no child left behind, the Republicans in Washington started adopting the liberal philosophy of "what can government do for you?" The answer is that it is doing too much, costing too much, and taking away my freedoms.

Republicans (under a conservative banner) support the rule of law and the protection of our borders. As soon as Republican leaders such as President Bush and Sen. John McCain started falling in line with Ted Kennedy and other illegal alien amnesty programs, the nation as a whole rebelled. Legislation when down in flames thanks to mass protests by the American people, and what was the follow-up? More legislation. How about protecting America and the American people?

Republicans (under a conservative banner) support returning tax money to the taxpayers, not keeping it in Washington to pay for pork projects. As more and more Republicans joined the list of those taking earmarks for ridiculous programs, the label of "reformist" ceased to apply. Tax money belongs in the hands of taxpayers, not in the hands of Washington beaurucrats.

We need to get back to our roots, and we need leaders who represent those values. In this past election, Obama won in-part by trumpeting a tax cut for 95% of the American people. The claim was patently false, but the point is that he promoted a tax-cutting message. McCain never mounted a serious message on tax cuts. Rather than having the courage to really explain the tax situation to the American people and tell them that Republicans will not pit one economic class against another and that "fair" tax cuts mean tax cuts for all, McCain eventually joined the Obama bandwagon and only talked about tax cuts for the "middle class."

When was the last time we actually had a conservative nominee? Well... that's too long. We don't need "fresh" ideas or a make-over of our philosophy. We simply need to return to our conservative roots and have leaders and spokespeople who will promote those ideals. Kudos to Rush and Hannity during the last two years for stepping up more for conservative ideals even if it meant calling Republicans to task. As we proceed with the house-cleaning, maybe Fox News can finally get rid of Fred Barnes and Bill Kristol. They are useless and do not represent conservatism. They represent elitist Republicanism which led to part of the decline. When Fred Barnes calls House Republicans idiots for standing up for conservative principles regarding the financial bail-out, he's got to go.

There are so many aspects to analyze, but another point to mention is that when Republicans come to power and are only focused on keeping power, the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train. The last eight years showed that we could win the presidency, but at what cost. The conservative movement was crushed. The majorities we built in the House and Senate are gone and will take a generation to restore. Thanks a lot!

I will write more on what needs to be done as we move forward, but moving forward without studying what went wrong is foolish. In short, when the Republican Party is led by a conservative core, then America, as a center-right nation, will embrace the party and its ideals. If we are corrupt, embrace big government, push for earmarks, and don't respect the rule of law, then America will turn away. America needs the real Republican Party... and I want it back.

Jesus the Way to the Father 5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

8Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us."

9Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15"If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."

22Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?"

23Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25"All this I have spoken while still with you. 26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

28"You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me, 31but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me. "Come now; let us leave.

My reply was I will pray for them just like I pray for President Bush. The response was usually, well we will see when that really happens - you'll probably quit when that day arrives.

Dear Pastor Ed,

The Presidential Prayer Team is pleased to commit itself and it’s nearly 500,000 members to pray for the newly elected President of the United States of America, Barack Obama.

Calling in his acceptance speech for a new spirit of patriotism, service and sacrifice from the American people, President-Elect Obama swept to victory over Republican John McCain as the first African-American to hold the nation’s highest political office.

“We are and always will be the United States of America,” President-Elect Obama said from Grant Park in Chicago, IL. “A government of the people, by the people, and for the people has not perished from the face of the earth. This victory is for you.”

While saying a new dawn of American leadership is at hand, President-Elect Obama recognized that the road ahead may be tough and the climb steep in meeting the many challenges facing the nation, but that “we as a people will get there,” a sentiment followed by chants of “Yes We Can” from the huge Chicago crowd. He also called Republican presidential candidate John McCain a “brave and selfless leader” and said he looks forward to working with him and Governor Sarah Palin in the months to come.

Our faithful prayers for President-Elect Obama and Vice President-Elect Joe Biden are desperately needed. Their new administration faces the challenges of a struggling economy, active wars against terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan, and energy and environmental concerns - all perhaps unprecedented in a generation. With I Timothy 2:1-2 as our biblical mandate, The Presidential Prayer Team is dedicated to praying for our new president’s wisdom, protection and success as he faces these issues, and many more, over the next four years.

Who Will Run America?

Some of you think you went to the polls yesterday to pick someone to run America.

"Who do you want to have run this country?" Chris Matthews asked repeatedly on MSNBC.

"One of these guys is going to be running the country," said Michael Goodwin of the New York Daily News.

Really? Run the country?

That has to be a joke -- or a misunderstanding," said George Mason University economist Walter Williams on my recent TV special,"John Stossel's Politically Incorrect Guide to Politics".

Williams pointed out that the White House doesn't govern what happens in your house. And a president certainly cannot control the economy. We, all of us, run the country.

"Politicians have immense power to do harm to the economy. But they have very little power to do good," Williams says.

The failure to understand this is at the root of many of our problems. "Most of life is outside the government sector," says David Boaz of the Cato Institute. "Most change in America doesn't come from politicians. It comes from people inventing things and creating. The telephone, the telegraph, the computer, all those things didn't come from government. Our world is going to get better and better, as long as we keep the politicians from screwing it up."

It's easy to find examples of government screwing up what it should have left alone.

Take farming. Every year politicians promise to save the family farm, and this year, Congress passed another $300-billion farm bill. More subsidies after generations of subsidies. John McCain opposed the bill, saying that it will "do more harm than good." But Barack Obama and most of Congress supported it.

Small farms are important," Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat from Texas, told me.

"I don't think we want anybody in this country to starve," Rep. Randy Kuhl, a Republican from New York, added.

People would starve?

"They go out of business, and then they'd be forced to move elsewhere and find different jobs," Kuhl replied.

That's not starving. That's finding a different job.

"But if they don't have a job, then they're going to starve."

Please.

He and others in Congress also claim that subsidies "insure a food supply for this nation."

That's more nonsense.

It's the free market that "insures" the food supply. You may not know that most farmers get no subsidies. Growers of apples, bananas, broccoli, cabbage, cantaloupe, carrots, cauliflower, grapes, lemons, limes, lettuce, onions, oranges, peaches, pears, pineapples, potatoes, spinach, squash, tangerines, tomatoes and dozens of other crops are on their own. There's no cabbage crisis or pineapple panic.

The farm bill doesn't even keep its other promise: saving family farms.

It's why although Nebraska corn farmer Mike Korth received about half a million dollars in subsidies, he's still against the farm bill. "We sold this on the fact that this is helping the family farmer and the small beginning farmer. It's not. It's hurting them."

That's because most subsidies go to those that are best at manipulating government: the agribusiness giants. Small farms can't compete.
A Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City study found that the more farm aid a county gets, the more likely it is to lose population.

So not only do farm subsidies cost every taxpayer $550 per year, they also raise food prices by paying farmers not to grow certain crops. Other crops are subsidized and exported, destroying the livelihoods of poor farmers in the Third World.

"This is just a crazy system," said the Cato Institute's David Boaz (www.cato.org). "It's left over from the 1930s, left over from the Depression. And it's a great example of how nothing is as permanent as a temporary government program." Of course, without subsidies, some farms would go out of business. That's OK, says Walter Williams. It's the creative destruction that makes America strong.

"The guy who delivered ice to my house, he doesn't have a job because we have refrigerators. We're better off. We would have been held back if we had tried to save his job."

I said to Congresswoman Jackson Lee, "If this works so well, why don't we just subsidize everything?"

Her answer? "You don't want to push us."

How frightening is that?

A Call to Fast and Pray For Our Nation & Elections

In my humble opinion, about all has been said that can be said to make a differnce in who will be the next president of our great nation. Therefore, with that in mind I will not be posting (unless something urgent comes up) until after the polls close here in Indiana on Tuesday evening.

God can do more for what our country needs than any mere words that this humble preacher could put in a blog.

Please join us for a day of FASTING AND PRAYER the day before the most important election of our lifetime. So much is at stake including the Right to Life, Christian Liberty, Supreme Court Judge Appointments and National Security.

Why is it important for us to fast and pray? In the Bible, when God's people have faced a major turning point in their nation, they have fasted and prayed. Esther asked Mordecai and the Jewish people to pray for her in Esther 4:16, before she petitioned the king for her people. Daniel prayed, fasted, confessed and petitioned to the Lord in Daniel 9:4,5: "O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws."

Most importantly, Jesus set an example of fasting and prayer for us to follow in Matthew 4 when he fasted forty days. As we set aside our time in prayer and fasting, let's remember that we walk by faith and not by sight. Without faith it's impossible to please God. While the world is watching the election polls, let's keep our eyes on the Lord and be found faithful in prayer.
