Dear Pastor Ed,

Thank you - from me and all of the staff at The Presidential Prayer Team - for praying with us over the past year, and for your generous gifts of support for this ministry.

This hasn’t been an easy year financially for any of us. The economy is the worst it has been in decades. Joblessness is on the rise nationally. It’s been hard. Yet we still have much to be thankful for, don’t we? We have our friends, our loved ones, a roof over our head, food in the kitchen. Through whatever trials we’ve faced this year, God and His great love has been with us. He has remained faithful as our provider and our Lord.

And now, as we move forward into the holiday season and watch the transition in the White House from President Bush to President-Elect Obama, we can also be thankful for prayer, and how God has moved - and continues to move - as a result of our intercessions. Even now, almost 50,000 people are praying daily through our 77 Days of Prayer for our New President e-mail series we’ve provided. It’s a wonderful and holy thing to see the Lord work through us.

And because of your prayers and support, The Presidential Prayer Team is here to champion prayer for the President, the President-Elect, and our leaders and Troops. Truly, all of us at PPT are so blessed and thankful.

My reply was I will pray for them just like I pray for President Bush. The response was usually, well we will see when that really happens - you'll probably quit when that day arrives.

Dear Pastor Ed,

The Presidential Prayer Team is pleased to commit itself and it’s nearly 500,000 members to pray for the newly elected President of the United States of America, Barack Obama.

Calling in his acceptance speech for a new spirit of patriotism, service and sacrifice from the American people, President-Elect Obama swept to victory over Republican John McCain as the first African-American to hold the nation’s highest political office.

“We are and always will be the United States of America,” President-Elect Obama said from Grant Park in Chicago, IL. “A government of the people, by the people, and for the people has not perished from the face of the earth. This victory is for you.”

While saying a new dawn of American leadership is at hand, President-Elect Obama recognized that the road ahead may be tough and the climb steep in meeting the many challenges facing the nation, but that “we as a people will get there,” a sentiment followed by chants of “Yes We Can” from the huge Chicago crowd. He also called Republican presidential candidate John McCain a “brave and selfless leader” and said he looks forward to working with him and Governor Sarah Palin in the months to come.

Our faithful prayers for President-Elect Obama and Vice President-Elect Joe Biden are desperately needed. Their new administration faces the challenges of a struggling economy, active wars against terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan, and energy and environmental concerns - all perhaps unprecedented in a generation. With I Timothy 2:1-2 as our biblical mandate, The Presidential Prayer Team is dedicated to praying for our new president’s wisdom, protection and success as he faces these issues, and many more, over the next four years.

Today, we are launching a countdown in prayer from Election to Inauguration for President-Elect Obama! It’s called 77 Days of Prayer for our New President, and I encourage you to please sign up for this prayer initiative now using this link.

We pray today for You to move across our nation with a longing for integrity and righteousness among our people. We especially pray that those who run for office and those who are elected to office this year will be persons of integrity. PPT - Today's Immediate Prayer Concerns

Pray for Senator Ted Kennedy as tests have now shown that a brain tumor is the cause of his seizure last weekend.  Pray for wisdom for doctors for further treatment. He is resting comfortably...

Pray for President Bush todayas he continues to serve our nation faithfully with dignity and diligence.  Though he has no public events on his schedule, his day will be busy and full of important conversations and decisions.  Pray for a calming in the vitriolic climate among some members of the news media...

Pray for the millions impacted by the devastating earthquakein China last week.  As the nation now mourns and continues to recover and rebuild, pray for God's presence and strength, for the support of the international community, and for help and hope for survivors as they face the devastation as the death toll has now surpassed 22,000...

Pray for those impacted by the cyclone that hit Burma(Myanmar).  Government leaders have agreed to accept some outside aid but needs are still vast.  Pray for the Spirit of God to be present through those workers and missionaries who have been permitted to help...

Pray for the strengthening of the US economy as the government rebate checks have begun arriving in homes this week.  Pray that they will serve their intended purpose and that citizens will be wise in the way they use them...

Pray for our troops and for Iraqi Security Forces as they work to restore peace and stability to Baghdad. Pray for recent unrest to be quelled and for peace to reign in that city...

"Build Up to M-Day" - From The Presidential Prayer Team

Have you ever considered what our nation would be like without the incredible contributions of our Armed Forces?  Defenseless and vulnerable, America would be among the least nations in the world rather than the greatest.  We would be compromised in our ability to bring humanitarian aid to our own nation and the nations of the world.  Our ability to defend ourselves is prime among the privileges and blessings of being American.

So I’m asking you to remember our troops in a special way this week, as the nation pauses to observe Armed Forces Day, a day set aside by presidential proclamation to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of our members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. 

This special day was first established by President Harry S. Truman as an effort to honor all branches of the military because there were formerly days for each individual branch.

On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard Days. The single-day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under one department:  the Department of Defense.  Since then, the commemoration has continued as a way of expressing gratitude to those who bravely serve our nation via military service.

No Better Time to Make the Time…to Pray!

Dear Ed,

Yesterday, the National Football League crowned its champion…with a result that will go down in sports history.

Tomorrow, millions of Americans will go to the polls to crown their preference for their party’s presidential choice…and the result of their decisions will prove far more historically significant.

That’s why today, on the eve of the Super Tuesday primaries, I want to ask you to do one thing…and one thing only…for all of us at The Presidential Prayer Team.

Make the time to pray.

Right now, we’re in the midst of our Super Tuesday Online Prayer Rally. It continues until midnight tonight, so if you haven’t already done so, you can Enroll Now and join thousands of others in sustained prayer for tomorrow’s primaries.

But if you can’t pray online, I still want to encourage you to pray, whenever you can, before this day is over. Carry that intercession time over and continue tomorrow. PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER REQUESTS FOR THE WEEK OF

JANUARY 10-16, 2008

Pray for President Bush as he continues his first trip to the Middle East, seeking to meet with leaders of several nations in the follow up to the Annapolis Summit. Pray for his complete protection and care and for great wisdom from God that His will is done in the days to come. Pray for these meetings to illustrate the good will and friendship with our allies in the region and to strengthen efforts for peace among the nations. Read and pray through President Bush’s full itinerary HERE.

Pray for those responsible for security for all parties during President Bush’s Middle East trip, asking God to guide them with His wisdom. Pray that God will send His heavenly host to protect all with his power. Pray that there will be no plot or plan launched against the President or other leaders.

Give thanks for the incredible turnout in the New Hampshire primary. With both parties needing to select candidates in wide open races, turnout was exceptional. Give thanks and praise to God for this stunning outworking of democracy in which Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator John McCain were declared winners. Pray for the candidates as they now focus on Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina and Florida, with primaries on January 15,19, 26 and 29 respectively. Pray for health and strength for each one. Pray that voters in all these states will hunger and thirst for a candidate who seeks after God’s own heart, who will be responsive to Him and who will seek to honor Him in all things. Pray that all Americans will engage in this important process and will cry out to God for repentance and revival to sweep across our land as we seek God’s will for the future leadership of our nation.

In light of the recent skirmish between Iranian and U.S. Navy troops in the Hormuz Strait of the Persian Gulf, pray against encounters of this nature in the future. Pray for God’s mighty and powerful protection over all who serve in volatile areas, particularly the Middle East.

Pray for the members of the U.S. Supreme Court as they hear oral arguments on January 14-16 on cases involving ramifications and interpretations of the laws of our land—particularly those that involve felony offenders and their sentencing. Pray for God’s wisdom for the judges, that they will remain humble and will seek wisdom from Him.

Pray for the members of Congress as they return to Washington in the coming days following their Christmas recess. Members of the House of Representatives reconvene January 15; the Senate on January 22. Pray for the Spirit of God to be present and for the will of God to be honored and sought as they tackle key concerns including the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and re-authorization of No Child Left Behind.

As the President has declared Wednesday, January 16 to be Religious Freedom Day, pray for all the school children in the nation, from the youngest to those in college to know of their freedom to pray and speak of their faith in the public school setting, giving thanks for the tremendous religious freedom we enjoy in America. Learn more below.

Pray for those impacted by bizarre winter storms in Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin, asking God to comfort and strengthen as they seek to rebuild following winter tornadoes on January 7. Pray that their communities will surround them and will provide supplies and support in the weeks to come.

Continue to pray for peace in the nation of Kenya which has been wracked by violence and death since the December 27 presidential elections. Pray for talks between tribal leaders to succeed and for this bastion of democracy and strength to stabilize.

Pray for the members of our military as they serve with courage and strength in difficult and challenging settings. Pray for those who are just completing their basic training, and pray for those who have been serving for many years--for God’s powerful protection over each one, and for His comfort and strength for their families and loved ones.

Pray the Scriptures for Election Day!
Prayers to Prepare You to Intercede

The following prayers are Scriptures adapted "vertically" to be prayed back to God. This pattern of worship, thanksgiving, confession and requesting will help prepare you to intercede for the elections. Use these Scriptures to prepare your heart to pray.

I. Worship: Establish God's Sovereignty and Supremacy
O Lord, You reign over the nations and You rule in righteousness from Your holy throne.
--Psalm 47:8

I praise you for the trustworthiness and truth of Your word and Your person, O God. You are faithful and holy and righteous in all Your ways.
--Psalm 33:4

O Lord, You are great and mighty and majestic in Your power and authority! You see and know all things and there is no limit to Your understanding-it is beyond my comprehension.

II. Thanksgiving: Gratitude for God's Wisdom and My Freedom

III. Confession: Agreeing with God About Sin

It's been several days since I've posted much on my blog, and it feels good to get back to "work" after all the festivities that make up the Boston Family Christmas celebrations!

I have started a new feature that will be daily, at least for a while and will be a regular all the way up to Election 2008.

The Presidential Prayer Team, for who I serve as the Ambassador Chaplain, has an initiative called Pray to Vote 2008.

It is my humble opinion, that there is NOTHING better that we can spend our time doing than being in prayer for our upcoming elections. Sure, we need to inform ourselves, post blogs, make donations, write letters to the editor, and on and on, but serious prayer for our nation - that America will follow the will of God when we go to the polls - is something that I will be promoting here and elsewhere in the days and weeks to come.

Presidential Message: Christmas 2007

During the Christmas season, our thoughts turn to the source of joy and hope born in a humble manger on a holy night more than 2,000 years ago. Each year, Christians everywhere celebrate this single life that changed the world and continues to change hearts today. The simple and inspiring story of the birth of Jesus fills our souls with gratitude for the many blessings in our lives and promises that God's purpose is justice and His plan is peace.

At this special time of year, we give thanks for Christ's message of love and mercy, and we are reminded of our responsibility to serve. America is blessed to have fine citizens who reach out with a compassionate hand to help brothers and sisters in need. We also remember our brave men and women in uniform who have volunteered to defend us in distant lands. Many of those who have answered the call of duty will spend Christmas far from home and separated from family. We honor their sacrifice, ask God to watch over them and their families, and pray for their safe return.

Christmas is a time to rejoice and remember the birth of Jesus Christ. Laura and I pray your Christmas will be blessed with family and fellowship, and we wish you a day of glad tidings. Merry Christmas.

PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER REQUESTS FOR NOVEMBER 29-DECEMBER 5, 2007

Pray for President and Mrs. Bush as they continue to host many

guest during Christmas gatherings and tours at the White House,

asking that the love of God and a spirit of peace will be present.

Give thanks and praise to God for the preliminary success of this week’s Annapolis Peace Summit. Thank God for the clear commitment to step up and lead their nations to pursue peace made by Prime Minister Olmert and President Abbas. Pray for them as they have agreed to meet regularly in the coming days. Pray also for the “steering committee” which will oversee the process, starting with a meeting in Jerusalem on 12/12. Pray for God’s Spirit to be present in every encounter, providing His solutions to the difficult problems facing both sides. Pray that they will be able to work together to bring a new season of peace in the Middle East, characterized by freedom, security, justice, dignity, respect and mutual recognition.

Pray for President Bush, Secretary of State Rice and members of their teams as they continue to instigate the peace process between all the key parties. Pray for wisdom and strength at every turn as they influence these leaders toward peace.

Give thanks for the dedication of Al Hubbard, President Bush’s Director of the National Economic Council. Hubbard announced this week that he is stepping down. Pray for Keith Hennessey whom the President has appointed as Hubbard’s replacement—for God’s wisdom to guide him as he makes this important transition.

President Bush announced encouraging news this week about a reduction of US greenhouse gas emissions during a period of economic growth. Give thanks for this news and pray for the President and his advisors as they continue to work on the important issues of energy security and climate change, that they will safeguard the precious resources of God’s creation.

Give thanks for the dedicated service of Senator Trent Lott who has announced that he would resign at the end of the year. Pray for him to clearly discern God’s will for his next steps, and pray for Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour who will appoint a replacement to finish out Lott’s term.

Pray for the members of Congress as they return to session, asking God to guide each one with His wisdom. Pray for God’s grace and wisdom for legislators as they return to deal with a number of key issues before the Christmas recess.

With just a little more than a month remaining before the Iowa Caucuses on 1/3/08, pray for candidates and citizens alike as the first vote draws near. Pray for the remaining debates to provide clear information that voters need to discern whom they will choose. Be sure to visit our Pray the Vote site for the best information on campaigns and candidates.

Give thanks and praise to God for the success of the troop surge and the resultant peace and order that have come to Baghdad and the nation of Iraq. Pray for continued success for Iraqi security forces, that they will continue to gain strength and take over full control of the safety of their nation and their people.

As our troops in Iraq continue to push forward, clearing out insurgents and strengthening Iraqi security forces, give thanks and praise to God for their success, diligence and sacrifices. Pray also for those who serve in Afghanistan, Kuwait and around the world, asking God’s complete protection over each one and praying for their loved ones who await their return.

Happy Thanksgiving From Cyber Pastor & Family!

All posts today, including this entire article are all dedicated to the Thanksgiving holiday and what it means.

I love Thanksgiving! Why is that? Well, many things come into play, but being a Christian, and living in America should just make a person overjoyed about being thankful.

Of course, I am thankful that Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross and then rose again three days later so that I could spend eternity in heaven!

I am thankful to God for placing me in the United States of America - the greatest country on the earth. I am awed by the fact that the world is such a big place, and I could have been born in any country and for whatever reason God chose to put me in America!

I am thankful that we have religious freedom and are able to worship God openly without the fear of our government standing in our way or of being persecuted because of what we believe.

I have a wonderful family that I love with all my heart - and that is truly a blessing from God.

I have a wonderful church and community to serve and I couldn't ask for a better place to do God's work. Thank you Lord for placing me here.

I am thankful for those who are currently serving our country in the GWOT and for all those who have served before them. Please remember to pray for those serving as they protect our freedoms and many of them will be away from their loved ones for all the holiday season.

I have made so many wonderful friends since I began blogging nearly two years ago, and then starting Do The Right Thing earlier this year.

There is quite a large and growing group of people that I call the "Good Guys" who have grown into a very close family. Granted, I have only met one of these people in person - but I feel like I have known several of them for many years. A few of them are some of my closest prayer partners.

To have such a group of friends, that come from all walks and different parts of the country is a great thing. This "family" we have includes Christians, Catholics, a couple of the Jewish faith, an atheist, young folks, older folks, many veterans, men, women, and the group just keeps on growing.

While we come from very different backgrounds, one thing links us together. That is our love of Conservative values. Several of us have our own blogs, others are contributors to blogs, and some are readers of our blogs, but conservatives we are.

Thank you Lord, for all the things I've listed, and may You continue to Bless America!
