While we are enjoying the holidays with our families here in the United States, our military men and women are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan in often life-threatening situations. Move America Forward is trying to make sure that every single one of them gets a gift box of cookies, coffee, and holiday treats from home. Please help us show our troops that we love them and appreciate their heroic service to our country.

Even while they are in the harsh conditions of the Middle East, our troops continue to show the warmth and compassion that Americans have. Here is a heartwarming story from the Multinational Force – Iraq website that talks about some of the great things our troops are doing to help out Iraqi children. You can bet the mainstream media will avoid telling you any of the good things are troops are doing.

Lance Cpl. Roger Burda, a 25-year-old scout sniper from Daytona, Fla., with Regimental Combat Team 1, and other Marines in the unit took advantage of the area’s stability recently, visiting the Sattack Elementary School to spend time with Iraqi children.

Marines helped the children build wooden trains and bird houses using material donated by a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Burda’s hometown.

Burda’s mother, who works at the store and spends volunteer hours building the same toys with American children, helped him arrange the donation.

Our troops are doing such a great job in Iraq, training the new Iraqi Police force and military that many are capable of addressing internal threats and insurgent attacks. Violence is down sharply, and our troops continue to help the Iraqis defend themselves so we can get our troops home with victory and honor.

We recently announced the upcoming Honoring Heroes at the Holidays’ II nationwide tour and details are already leaking about a HUGE SURPRISE that will be announced later this week. We are not able to make it public yet, but we know you will be as excited as we are when you hear the news.

Details come from MAF’s Director of Operations Ryan Gill, who has had a hand in planning the “surprise event.”

“Move America Forward has always pushed the envelope to bring our cause to places no other pro-troop group has gone. We brought Gold Star families and radio show hosts to Iraq in 2006, and we sent people on patrol with U.S. troops in Baghdad last year. But I think this next project is going to amaze you even more,” Ryan said. “Watch for details later this week, but all I can say is we are going to prove our commitment to thanking all our troops on the front lines of the War on Terror.”
