Today's True LIFE Hero -- Jill Stanek

Today's True LIFE Hero is a renowned pro-life spokesperson. Jill Stanek was first thrust into the limelight as a nurse who did the right thing for babies who survived abortions. In 1999, at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL, nurse Jill Stanek, discovered that a significant percentage of late term abortions-by-inducement ended with live born preemies dying alone, without care, in a laundry room. The night she intercepted a tiny Down Syndrome boy being taken to the dying room -- and comforted him until his death by asphyxiation 45 minutes later -- a right to life crusader was created. Having shared intimately in his distress, she could no longer turn her head while the practice continued. When late term abortions continued to be scheduled even after Mrs. Stanek reported the unrecorded infant deaths to hospital officials, she exposed the practice to public scrutiny in the press. Within two years, she was fired from her nursing position for pro-life activities.

Jill Stanek testified of these experiences to House and Senate subcommittees in 2001 and 2002. Her interviews with Bill O'Reilly (http://tinyurl.com/3obwle) and Sean Hannity are considered right-to-life classics. President George W. Bush invited her to witness his 2002 signing the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, which protected live aborted children from infanticide, as well as his signing the Partial Birth Abortion Ban in November 2003, which protected partially delivered babies from being killed by abortion**. In 2003, she was named one of World Magazine's 30 prominent pro-life leaders over the past 30 years. She humbly defers this honor as "more deserved by innumerable others." (http://tinyurl.com/chxep2) Jill is now a weekly columnist for WorldNetDaily.com and a public speaker on pro-life issues.

Mrs. Stanek and her family brave hate mail, death threats and public scorn. Yet, her demand for reason and compassion toward the most fragile of human beings causes others to rethink their demand for choice at any price. All she wanted to be was a good nurse, but through her unrelenting boldness to present the truth, Jill Stanek has become a True LIFE Hero.

UPDATE FROM THE AUTHOR:

My apologies for adding another message to your box.

In the spirit of fairness and honesty, I retract my statement that:**Sadly, these landmark presidential acts have been rescinded by President Barack Obama.

I was gently corrected that both of the mentioned laws can only be overturned through acts of Congress. At this time, the Senate has passed the legislation to overturn the pro-life bills that President Bush signed. President Obama has pledged to sign this legislation, which he requested, when it comes to his desk. However, he has not rescinded them, as yet.

Pro-life Executive Orders made by President George Bush that President Obama has overturned in the past 2 months:

* Reversal of limitations on embryonic stem cell research and experimenting with tissues from abortions or frozen embryos.

* Reversal of restrictions on American tax dollars financing foreign abortions.
