PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER REQUESTS FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 8-14, 2007
Pray for President Bush as on November 9-10 he meets at his Crawford, Texas ranch with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss a variety of issues of import to both our nations including Darfur, Iran’s possible nuclear buildup, progress in Iraq and missile defense in Europe.

Pray for Dr. James Peake, President Bush’s nominee to the position of Secretary of Veterans Affairs, as he prepares to step into leadership of this vital department. Pray for him as he prepares, asking God to be at work in his mind and heart that he may faithfully serve the needs of our country’s veterans. Pray also for his confirmation hearings before the Senate, that each questioner will have God’s wisdom in the answers they seek.

As the nation pauses on November 11 to observe Veterans Day, give thanks for our 25 million military veterans, thanking God for their sacrifice, dedication and service to country. Pray for those who struggle with disabilities and pain, whether physical, emotional or spiritual, asking God to bring powerful healing and renewal. Pray that each one will know the gratitude of a thankful nation.

Pray for President Bush as he continues to urge democracy and order in Pakistan and all nations of that region. Pray for stability to be restored in Pakistan and for democratic elections and processes to continue. Pray for God’s hand to move powerfully to bring peace in every pocket of unrest.

President Bush has announced incentives to encourage importers to strengthen regulations governing food and product imports entering our nation. Pray for Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach and his team as they use the authority granted them to keep our food and products safe. Pray for good cooperation between the federal government, foreign nations and the private sector as a master plan is now implemented. Pray that these efforts will combine to keep children and families safe in our country.

This week marks one year from the nation’s next presidential election! Together we must continue to pray for the candidates, their campaigns and for God’s will to be done in the primary process. Be sure to check out our new Pray the Vote website and learn all the ways you can get involved and make a difference as you pray!

Give thanks for the confirmation of Attorney General nominee Michael Mukasey by the Senate Judiciary Committee, and pray for the members of the Senate as they now prepare to take their final vote on his nomination before Thanksgiving.

As thousands have been displaced through calamitous flooding in Chiapas, Mexico, pray for help for the neediest, and for protection from disease and crime. Pray for relief agencies that will now seek to help, asking God to empower them to serve those who most need it.

Pray for our troops as they serve with honor and bravery in places of great difficulty, danger and challenge. Pray for each of them to have the powerful protection of the Lord God Almighty! Pray His holy protection over their families as well. Pray for the spiritual life of our troops, that chaplains and their assistants will have God’s wisdom as they serve the spiritual needs of our troops. Pray for a healthy, holy spiritual climate for our troops wherever they serve.
